Service reset
Charlie Moore
+1 on what GDC and Valk said....... sometimes it just takes the "knack" of getting the timing right on the reset procedure.
I 100% guarantee that the change in viscosity has nothing to do with it.
If you don't believe me.......I'll come over and drain all the oil and replace it with sand, then reset the FSS.

1. Turn key to the ON/RUN position.
2. Within one second press the ****/button twice.
3. The present status for days or distance is displayed.
Within 10 seconds turn the key to OFF/
LOCK.
4. Press and hold the ****/button, while turning
the key to ON/RUN again. The present status for
days or distance is displayed once more. Continue
to hold the ****/button.
After approximately 10 seconds, a signal sounds and
the display shows 7,000 miles (Canada: 11,000 km) for
approximately 10 seconds.
5. Release the ****/button.2. Within one second press the ****/button twice.

When you do the above make sure that you turn past the accessory position to the on position (but not all the way to start). In the accessory position you will see the display and this may make you think that you turned the key far enough - the "dummy" lights need to come on to be in the on positon. Also the above is very sensitive to following the time limits.
My big question is about item #2. Does this mean that you have to press the **** twice within one second of turning the key to ON or does it mean you have to press the **** twice within 1 second?
It took me 4 tries to get mine reset.
5. Release the ****/button.
