Help! Mayday! Loss Of Power
I have a srt6 stock and of course it is no longer covered under warrantee ( exp. 7/4/09), this morning i filled up with 93oct, no problems the rest of the way home, later in the day, i got on the highway, and accelerated hard no problem to 90mph , after a bid of crusing i went to accelerate again onto a differenent highway and there was no power, it downshifted, but still my 98' 1.8l corolla could have done better. I dont think its the gas because its not happening consistant, i spent 1/2 hour getting on and off the a short strech of highway and i had the same results, power down low, but nothing up high speed wise, most of the times, but occasionally it would run fine. I have no lights coming on the dash, car has 27,000 miles and oil change was done at maybe 1,700 miles ago with 0w-40 mobil 1 syn. any idea? past simlar issues? PLEASE HELP!
car is in Hartford, CT area if anyone has a shop within reason i would take it to you rather than papa's dodge of new britain, CT, where they couldnt even reset a malfunctioning low tire pressure light, took 6 days to fix a minor oil leak, and replaced my headlights without taping off the bumper and scratched both sides below the headlight units, P.S. one headlight is too low, how do you raise it, i dont want to bring it to them, god knows what they would do next, and charge me for it now.
Headlight?? If the beam is low, turn the white screw in the back up - - down.
Headlight body high or low, there are two screws into the body of the headlight on the bottom that are for height adjustment. TO get them you gotta pull the lights and thats best with the bumper off for my money. THat is not hard but a lift will make it Massively easier. Woody

also noticed a new noise coming from the engine compartment, not loud but theres almost a buzzing noise when sitting at idle, cannot tell if it continues or worsens while driving, also any effects of still driving the car with this problem? any way to correctly diagnose it without getting raped at the dealership for hooking up a monitor just to tell you okay that was 80 bucks, and now that we know whats wrong that will be another 700!?
Did it run fine after a day of sitting still? Once motor is completely cool, drive it and see if it runs fine for a short time. If it does, then my money is on the IC pump, but temp sensor for the SC has failed too. I would replace both...pump needs replaced regardless...I'm on my second one, and will use the Johnson pump next.
