Iam looking to see if Konis are worth the money and effort, I have 19000 and do autocrossing so the interest. Can anyone provide your impression of the shocks and if they are adjustable - is that helpful???

They are definately worth the money and little effort they take to install. I noticed a great improvement in handling, and the adjustability really allows you to make the car drive how you like it. If you are autocrossing, the koni's may put you in a different class because they are considered a pretty major suspension mod. Do it!

 

~ much agreed - money well spent - i love a crisp rebound especially complimented by the set of eibach pro-kit shocks.

i ran them for 40k... a great way to dial it in.

 

But what's the benefit? I'd like to know as they are not cheap. My car rides fine after the lowering kit. So I would like to know the benefits in more qualified terms.

 

~ when you are rolling down the freeway and go across a bridge or dip in the roadway the car tends to float a bit (unsettled)... kind of a bobbing sensation - this is eliminated. also if you are taking an on/off ramp and hit a seam in the roadway the backend tends to jump out on you - this is eliminated... a crisp rebound keeps the car in line.

One more thing to add to the list. Does it ever stop? Are there meds for this obsession?

I just installed my Koni's and Eibach's today....Ill give my review in a week or so.

 

The Koni/Eibach combo is great. Pretty easy install, fair price ( about 800.00), and much better ride quality and handling.

 

I bought Chris's revalved Koni's and at first I wasn't sure if I liked them. For the street, at the softest setting with the stock springs I found them too bouncy and way too hard at the hardest setting. (to be expected I guess) Then I set them one turn from firmest on the front and one turn from softest on the back and went racing. They completely changed the handleing of the car. Now I have no understeer except on the real tight slow corners. On the fast turns and eses the car has a slight oversteer feeling. I was shopping for bigger front tires but now I'm in no hurry. The shock's cured many of the complaints I had about the understeer and overall manners on the track. If your racing, without a doubt they're worth it. If it's for puttering down the street ... with stock springs .... I can't say because mine are not the off the shelf Koni's.
My Koni's have made a most definate improvement and I would imagine the off the shelf ones are excellent too.

Andrew explained it pretty well... they definitely improve the over all handling.

Mine still seem to rattle in the rear... Koni replaced them under warranty but they're still rattling. And I'm certain it's the shocks but I don't have the original to put back on to find out.

Anyone want to lend me there's?

I love mine, its at least as confortable (maybe better) as before I lower the ride 1.5". On race mode its a tight bumpy ride, I likeed that for dragging the car remains straght at take of and not like the mustang GT that moves its weight to the back like crasy!
