Default Diamond Plate Aluminum

Sorry guys, I don't know which section to put this one, but ...

I'm looking for a good deal on some diamond plate aluminum sheeting. I need about a 6'x6' sheet 1/8"-1/4" thick. I have tried the normal haunts Home Depot and some of the wholesale houses, etc. But their prices are way too high IMO. $38.00 for a 1'x4' piece.

I need it for the floor plates of the car now that it's gutted...

Anyone with a hook-up in LA ?

Back in TX I used to get aluminum sheets from a trailer manufacturer. They would sell scrap and bent pieces pretty cheap. They also had diamond plate. I don't remember the price, but they sold it by the pound. There was also a guy that went around to the auto swap meets selling diamond plate and other sheet metal. I'm sure there's bound to be something in the LA area that manufactures products using diamond plate that you could check with.

Try a 4x4 shop that does custom work...

OT: Any pics of the gutted out "XF" racer? It would of been interesting to watch a race car being built.

Good find, but I need the diamond plate to cover the entire floor board and then screw it in to the frame rails. That's why it needs to be custom shape 1/16" aluminum. Thanks for looking out though.

I'll post some when the car gets back from the roll cage install in a few weeks. It's a work in progress, I still have to cut out the support structure of the doors and a bunch of other stuff.

BEN47:

I pulled these off my hard drive... It was right after I gutted most of the car, before it went down to the race shop for the roll cage. It's a mess. Once the cage gets installed then we will cut the interior of the doors, remove the widows, bead blast the interior and re-paint and finish it up. Lots of work to still do...
