Goodyear F1 DS-G3
Hi everyone,
I just put some F1 DS-G3 tires on my CF coupe. I thought they would be quite sticky, but to my surprise, I can easily break them loose with my automatic. Do they get stickier over time?
I notice they are quieter and ride softer than the worn Contis were.

It takes approximately 500 miles to wear off the "release agent" that is put on the rubber so that it separates from the mold easier. At that time, it is going to be about as sticky as it is going to get. Let us know your impressions after the 500 miles.
I ordered mine from a Goodyear service center. As it turned out, there is a strike going on at the factory in Germany, and the F1s are in short supply. So the manager at the service center ordered mine from TireRack. I found this out because the invoice from TireRack was still on the tires and I brought it up.
I recommend that anyone interested in F1s order theirs from TireRack as Goodyear normally sells the rear tires for $328.95, and TireRack sells them for $239.00. The front tires are $209.77 from Goodyear, $169.00 from TireRack.
Shipping from TireRack was $43.38 for 4 tires, the tax I paid at Goodyear was $72.14.
I have to share my excitement in that the manager at this particular Goodyear service center did me a HUGE favor because he charged me $0.95 more than TireRack.
I don't know why he did that, but it is surely unusual as the two guys loading the tires in my truck kept muttering to each other "I can't believe he did this!".
Mounting and balancing at Goodyear was a whopping $39.00 a tire! I took mine to Les Schwab for mounting and balancing, they charged $114.00 for 4 tires. But they added valve stems, and I had to inform them that they needed to take that charge off (they muttered that it's a standard charge). It cost me total $99.00 to remove the wheels/tires from my CF, change the tires, and balance all 4 tires, including tax.
Both companies want extra for hazard insurance. Flat repair is always free from all the tire companies (on the tires they install).
So, now it's snowing like crazy, and the rating for F1s on snow is a measly 2. Sheesh, wouldn't ya know...

Does anyone else have experience with this tire and with the Michelin PS2s? I've seen the tire review that TireRack did and was wondering if the F1s are really better than the PS2s.
The most important to me is dry road performance. TIA.

One word of warning about these tires: They are uni-directional, so you can't rotate them by just swapping wheels from side to side. You will have to un-mount the tires and switch them around. It could get expensive if you put a lot of miles on your car.
You're not going to get much additional mileage out of the tires by swapping them side to side. The charge for the mount and dismount will add up to more than the one set of tires you might save over the life of the vehicle.
Put 'em on and drive.

F1s are a lot better than the Michelins mine used to push on going into a bend at 60 or so but the F1s cured this both in the wet and dry, also they are a little cheaper which makes a good sound to me.
Car and Driver report for those that haven't seen it yet... F1's win... of course they weren't using a Crossfire to test, but generally good info on how they did the testing/ranking:

them to do an updated test, but you are right, the F-1's win in this test as well with tire rack's comparison. I plan
on replacing my PS2's with F-1's when they wear out.
Here is the link to the article, it's a little easier to read than the PDF file (the overall test results are on the last page).

I'll see how it holds up on the track when I go next month.
