Man Running

I am trying to find out if anyone has info on the Icon of a man running followed by numbers. It occurs briefly in the odometer when you start the car. I now this sounds stupid, but I can't find anything in the owner's manual.

I think the 'Man' you're referring to is a 'wrench' or 2 wrench symbols.
Is the number following the symbol something like 300? (example - like mine), it means you have that many miles until the next service.
1 wrench = service A
2 wrenches = service B
See the manual, or search the forum for what needs servicing.

Try to take a picture of the icon and post it on here. That way we can see what you are seeing.

I've never seen the man running before, I have seen the wrenches and the oil bottle that tells you how much oil is in the engine case.

Funny that you mention it but I think I found your running man which was recently on a trip to Mexico on a stop light...Not like here in the states were we have WALK and DON'T WALK, in Mexico for the pedestrians they have a green man walking with a timer counting down...as the timer counts down the little green man walk faster and faster then finally running...I thought it was pretty hilarious when I saw this, too bad I didn't get a chance for a pic or video for that matter...No running man on the xfire only wrenches... :p

Thanks spensley for the quick reply! My mistake. You were right. Blame it on bad eye sight and an over active imagination. Glad I was able to provide a bit of humor to some of you.

This is part of the personal functions computer. It's telling you that you better hurry-up and get your butt to work. ;)

I just noticed the 2 wrenches today. It shows the two wrenches and then 1,100. Does that mean 1,100 miles until I need an oil change and Service B?

I just plan on taking my car in because I have the rattle from the trunk and my brakes seem to be grinding already...and I only have 11,000 miles!?

ah, the running man, it means you just activated the self destruct mode.

That would be correct.

The Running Man,
Your car needs some love from you. You need to wash and wax your XF asap or Richard Dawson will show up and strap you into a tube and shoot you off to the bad place (dealership service waiting room) where you will get the run around. ;)

Ah yes... the secret "self destruct mode"... I forgot about that... The running man means "quick, run away before the car explodes".

Re: Man Running

Just curious, can you "clear" the notification from the odometer, or is it a "dealer only" thing ?

What your seeing is called the "flexible service system" indicator, or FSS. Do a search on this forum. The procedure has been discussed and posted several times before.
