Default Funny sound...?

Ok, I have a question.

I have a '05 roadster with 7k miles. When I'm sitting at a stop the motor makes a sound similar to that of a 'dustbuster' hand held vacuum for about 4 seconds then stops. What is that sound?

The power, car and everything run great... it’s just that sound and sometimes when I get out of it in my garage it smells of a feint electrical burn.

I got the recall papers for the radiator fan and have an appointment to get it installed. Is that what I'm hearing?

Thanks for the help.

You are indeed hearing the radiator fan engaging briefly to cool down your engine. Completely normal.

sounds like your hearing the air pump, not the radiator fan.

If you hear the sound when you first fire up the car (when it's cold) that is the air pump (emissions part). If you have been driving around for a while (when it's at operating temp) it is the radiator cooling fan. These cars only rely on an electrical setup vs. the clutched fan found on most other cars.
