PLEASE HELP- Lighted door sill wiring
I'm having a problem wiring my door sills and could use some advise. First I could not find the wiring harness in the access door area so I pulled the a-pillar on the drivers side to access the dome light wires. Could someone please advise me on which wires to tie into. the pillor harness has two solid brown, red with gray stripe, blue with red stripe, green with white stripe.
Not sure on a roadster, but I tied in behind the passenger seat, just as my directions said. Just unscrew the plastic caps on the carpet and pull it down, and its right there, in the corner. Again not sure how the wiring is in a roadster, But my instructions told me to tie into a brown and pink wire, and when i found one and tested it, it wasn't wired to the switch. Turns out there were 2 brown and pink wires, so test everything b4 u tie in. So my lights came with a red and 2 browns. Tie one brown into the brown/pink, the other into the brown/gray, and the red into the black and yellow with white stripes.
I tried that method and a coupe wiring is much different then the roadster. I think it's because the trunk light only comes on in the roadster when you open the trunk lid. Anyway I figured it out on my own I had to tie into the red with gray stripe to the red wire to the lights and the blue with white stripe to the solid brown wire of the lights. I did a search on the forum and nobody tied to the blue wire but it works properly.
I have not installed this, but frank be careful and do your best to avoid putting 2 postivies together while there is a current runing through them... as you will fry the same fuse again...
Sidez - I have it wired up and working properly - I had to connect the brown wire from the lighted sills to the blue wire in the pillar to make it work properly. Thanks again for the information you provided to get the lights/ remote working again.
I have a 2006 roadster. All the wires were located in a bundle behind the passenger seat. The black/yellow/white stripes was easy to find. I had 3 brown/grey wires - only one goes to the driver door switch. The brown/pink was hard to find since it was wound in electrical tape. I had to trace it from the passenger door switch. Everything attached just as in the directions supplied with the illuminated sills.
