So I ordered this MB Engine cover (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=190107076025) and what I received seems to be for a larger motor. I always get screwed when I order stuff!!

 

yea that's off the v8 ... does it fit at all ? cause from pictures i have seen it does not seem too long without the MB cover on it, and just the air boxes on. just curious as those filters looked massive...

 

Yeah it actually fits perfectly. The only thing is that the oil cap hole is just chillin over nothing which bothers me a bit.

 

cover the hole with fiberglass ... make it perfect smooth ... paint the entire thing with a nice gloss color leaving the center stripe silver ... should be $50 bux to have a shop professionally paint it for you so it looks as nice as possible.

 

but the big question is ... HOW DOES THE ENGINE SOUND WITH THE HUGE FRIGGEN FILTERS ???

Fiberglass hummm... That is a great idea!! Thanks for recommending. I think I would like to keep this one if I fiber glassed it cause it makes the engine bay look cleaner because of the things it would cover up.

I just ran out and took her for a test drive to see the differences... It is a bit louder it sounds meaner but most of all I feel a better throttle response now!!

i think you ended up with the better cover of the two... looks like its a off a E class most likely but verify that ... if it is, look into ITG filters ... they are a triple foam filter that will free up good amount of sound and power for the price and its something a tad different than the K&N filters everyone runs.

 

It is for a M113 5.0 liter V8.

 

I had it on my car it will fit. You just need to trim the sides of the end cover and it will fit. As far as the sound it makes no difference at all.

 

Well mine magically got louder then...

 

I probably couldn't hear the difference over my exhaust.

 

Comparing the pic on eBay and the one you posted it is obvious that they did not send you the correct item, not even close. But you probably already know that.

 

Yeah and now they are not responding to email. I want to see if they will give me some of my money back and I will just keep the one I got.

 

I checked out Dan Roots Xfire and he has the same airbox as you. He says it breaths better. He cut off the front portion that over hangs the oil filler cap and it still looked good.

I was going to buy one from this seller on EBAY but he would not return my call.

Decided for $90 more I can buy a new one at the local MB dealer and get two new air filters to boot.

Sorry to see they sent you the wrong engine cover. Hope you get your money back or the right cover. I've had good luck on e-bay. Heck, the laptop I'm using I picked up on e-bay about 12 years ago and the darn thing still works. I'm kind of hoping the old thing will die one of these days so I can get a better one but the darn thing just wont give in!! Anyway I hope the seller makes things right with you! Good luck.

 

He called me last night and said he was sorry for what they had done and said that he would send out the right one today. Best of all he did not tell me to send the other one back!!

 

You didn't get screwed. Look at it this way. It's the first piece to a new and bigger engine!! You may be onto something big here!

I tried fitting the V8 airbox of my E500 into my little c320 engine bay. It doesn't freakin fit lol, the crossfire's engine bay is a little bigger than my car.
