Default Supercharger Clutch

Does anyone know at what RPM this engages ?

How long do they last as I have hear they fail ?

Is it cheap to replace it it fails ?

How long does it take to replace ?

Also:
How long does the IC pump last ?

Is it cheap to replace ?

How long doe it take to fit ?

As I have heard these have been prone to fail. I asked my local dealer if there was an upgrade on a recall, but they said no... should I wait for them to fail, or get my perfectly operational ones replace, just in case they are bad ones, as I don't know if this will cause any engine damage when it does fail.

Cheers,
Si

Mine failed at 20K miles. Dealer replaced the whole supercharger assembly. It took almost a month to get the s/c shipped from Germany and let the dealer take their time with the install.

I've read in MBWORLD that you can just replace the clutch. Search that forum, I remember seeing it to be not that expensive to just replace the s/c clutch. A new S/C on the other hand will cost you $6K, per chrylser dealer.

Supercharger engages at 2,900 rpm or over 50% throttle (if I recall correctly).

My intercooler pump failed at 19k miles. $400 and 30 minutes of work on a jack took care of it.

Thanks for the info chaps...I'll have done 5,000 miles and I have 17 months left on warranty, so I need to ensure I clear 20k miles before then, I recon. I have been told I can get 1 yr extended warranty, but it's not cheap. I think I will weigh it up against both these items failing and the cost of the extended warranty and go for the cheapest.
