Default Shaker Top!

Look about 2/3rds the way down the page, there are pictures of one on a '97 - 2004 dakota, seems like it would be relatively simple to do. I only wonder if it would look good. I didn't think hood scoops would look good but the one on this forum with the 2 custom scoops looks great.

Already done. Check out this thread about half way down you'll see the white crossfire. I think it's the best mod done to a crossfire.

No, those are hood scoops, I'm talking about a shaker top, basically a hood with a whole cut for a ram air scoop that's connected directly to the air intake. It's called a shaker top because it vibrates with the engine. The ones one the website I linked to are from keystone restyling I believe.

There seems to be a problem with the website, try this link. http://www.keystonerestyling.com/dat...s/GHD106bg.jpg

Hahaha, yes, that is crappy, but thank you, it does at least give an idea of what it would look like. I think I'll have to look into what would actually go into fabbing one up. I think if done properly it will look good and just think of all that cold air!

Bryce, there is a company that makes an aftermarket version of the "Shaker" hood scoop for the 70's Cuda and Challenger, and that may be a good place to start your search. Or even the company that builds that small one for the Dodge trucks. It would be ideal if you want to stay with a "Chrysler" theme for your car. If there is no particular "theme" you're aiming at, then there are several other scoop designs you could go with.
As for any actual performance gain, I think you will be disappointed.
For an induction system to receive any benefit or (ram effect) from a scoop, it has to protrude about 4'' or more above the hood line to get above the 2 inches of "dead air".
Think Sabaru, 1969 Mopar (B-bodies) 440 6-Pack, Challenger TA's, Boss 429 Mustang's, Hurst Rambler Scrambler, Hemi Dart, style scoops and you will see what I'm talking about.
If you want something purely for cosmetic reasons like I did, then all I can tell you is I couldn't be happier with the one I came up with. I think a scooped hood gives the Crossfire a much more "aggressive" look about it, and that's what I was going for. I think it should have been part of the SRT package, and it would have helped balance out the "whale tail" IMO.

Agree 100%; that would have been a superb addition. Too bad DC didn't ask for our advice or opinions...
