Default Mercedes Key

I'm wondering if anyone has attempted to switch out to the new mercedes key instead of the older style. I think the look is alot more fitting of the style of car.

there is a key where the ring attaches, however i do believe that it would require shanging the ignition part on the dash where you insert the key.

chrysler might have some certain time period where they can still use some mercedes parts.i mean they make an 08 crossfire still right. it prolly ends after the 08 production and 09 begins prolly sometime late this year. and who knows maybe mercedes said they can use electronic start keys. i have no idea im only guessing

I got a 08' chrysler 300 rental, I looked under the hood, everything is branded with chrysler logo, but I still see "made in german" on a few things.

I actually went by a Mercedes Parts department yesturday and inquired about a replacement key.
I was informed that I am locked in to Chrysler because all keys are based on the VIN numbers and that changing from that worthless fob, in which key ring breaks off, to a key was not possible.
He also informed me that the shell were not also not available and that both Chrysler and Mercedes have changed their design because of this.
I rented a Mitubitshi which had designed their key fob to withstand a hard throw against a wall.
At present I am contamplating buying a key for $100 plus and knowing that that the key ring will fall off if knocked off a end table on carpet.

Daimler still has 20% of Chrysler. . . .Daimler did keep the profit making parts of Mopar - which were the over the road trucks (White ??? Sterling ??? Freightliner ??? . . . if you see the new big trucks, they have Mercedes Powered badges on them !). . . who know what Bob - Home Depot Killer - Nardalli is going to do to Chrysler . . . probably sell it to Chery Auto from China . . .
