Default Rear Differential Questions

Looking to swap an SRT6 3.07:1 rear differential into my 6 speed base (coupled with 3% taller tires to drop the rpm on the highway) before pursuing a Limited Slip addition.

I assume the cases are different and I will need to aquire the entire rear differential assembly.

Does anybody have access to MB part numbers, used parts, rebuilt assemblies, etc. That could help in my search?

So far, judging by online Mercedes part catalogs, I've come up with a mess of part numbers that could potentially represent a 3.07:1 SLK32 rear diff...

2023509714 HOUSING,AXLE
202350971470 HOUSING, REA
202350971488 HOUSING, REA

2103501662 AXLE HOUSING
210350166270 ACHSGH.3.07
210350166288 AXLE HOUSING

I am somewhat unfamilar with merceds part number and hae no clue how to correctly identify what it is that I need or if these numbers represent the completed housing or just the shell.

HELP!

Cases Are The Same The Only Thing Different Is The Ring And Pinion Srt-6 #5135490aa Lists For $640.00 And The Axle Shafts Srt-6 Number #5159990aa List $927.72 Each I Suspect You Could Use Your Old Shafts Because The Hubs Are The Same.....

So if I purchase 05135490AA (SRT6 Ring & Pinion Kit) I will have all the parts neccessary to attain a 3.07:1 ratio in my NA Crossfire?

That is what the Chrysler part catalog tends to imply and would be amazingly simple.

Can anyone confirm?

I've thought of this also yet havent looked up the part numbers for the carrier to see if they match, would be great to tame down 1st gear.

the parts listing manuals are posted in pdf under crossfire documentation

I verified a pinion bearing and the collar the ring gear bolts to... teh pinion diameter and ring gear bolt pattern are the same through all models. I didn't check the case yet though.

In other news, by brother works at a dealership and is checking his best price.

your best price would be to find a Mercedes wrecking yard, the rear diff is easy to pull out as a unit and reinstall in another car. Most mercedes come with highway gears, some are close to 2.7~:1 almost more than you need. I would search ebay for a carrier, or a whole rear diff, if possible clk32 clk55 are mucho beafier than the crossfire, srt6 or slk32, and the aftermarket offers a posi for the clk cars' diff.

if your a good junkayard dog, there is a MBZ 1990 station wagon that has a posi unit that should bolt up, and then there is the diesle wagons they have an electronic locker, but gear ratio it numerically too low, like 2.60, yuk
you can also check out the earlier ml320-55's since they are designed for off roading.

also curious to find out how you manage to program the speedo.

Thought about the speedo. But there HAS to be an adjustment / replacement. I'll have to look into that.
