Differential / U Joints
You caught me speaking old school Chevrolet again.
Has anyone had either a broken differential or CV joints in their x fire yet? Or whatever Mercedes uses to transmit power from the diff to the rear wheels? I'm getting a clicking noise similar to a damaged roller bearing or damaged spider gears.

actually I'm not sure they are CV joints on the driveshaft, but they do have CV's on the axles.
usually that clicking sound your hearing is related to something in the brakes, maybe your e brakes are sticking.

Hey, I just bought a new crossfire. 04, 32k and when im around 20/30 mph i hear a low toned deep sound. I had the dealer ship de-glaze the break pads and trim the rotars but its still there. any idea at all what this could be or has anyone else had this sound? Its a real deep low tone- kinda like a bad wheel bearing sound (i know its not, this is just an example of the sound) I am new to the site- but hope i'll be checking daily for a response from anyone who might have any idea, I replied bc i thought maybe it could be one of the things that a couple other guys said, diffrential..ect
Thanks guys!
Thanks guys!
i hear a thunking or Tink.. sound at take off sometimes
a Thud sound from the Body also...
like the drive shaft hitting the floor board / consol
also when i am on a hill and back up, i hear a click / clank Ting
it comes from the Pass rear side, cv maybe not sure...
UPDATE went to the Dealer WED 6-25-08
the tech tightned the axle nut ? also ordered a RR axle and nut
they had no clue! i ask a older Tech ie.. shop mgr, he states it
might be the rubber ujoint or carrier barring setup

I hear the same thunk with mine. Usually during backing up while turning and the noise comes when i hit the brakes to make a complete stop.
CV axles on the IRS (Independent Rear Suspension) and there's a flex coupler to attach the driveshaft to differential. Pretty much a rubber donut with bolts through it in a circular pattern.
