Default Hella horns

Installed the pair of Hella horns -- drilled a hole in the center brace behind the grill, one bolt mounts both horns on either side of the brace. Easy plug in of existing connectors, and they are LOUD !!! Totally different tone, and will definitely get your attention. Never thought the original Xfire horns were very effective.....

I have been thinking about replacing the horns in my car. I'm happy to hear hella has something other then air horns available. Simple plug and play is great. I had hella air horns in a previous car and they had a very loud european sound. Where did you get them? What did they run? Oh, Just a heads up, if the vehicle is used in all kinds of weather you might want to make sure the open end of the horns are pointed away from the elements. This simple mistake caused my horns to fail.

I got mine from PTC FACTORY OUTLET via eBay for $55. I've used them on other cars without problems with the elements. Other than driling the one hole, not much of a hassle. I took off the mounting nuts on the horns and loktited them (had to turn one around anyway) and I always use allen head bolts so I could reach it and still have the two horns almost touching, and I always use stainless and nylock type fasteners, too many years rallying!

i bought a "freeway blaster" horn at advance auto parts to test and it bolts right up to the stock bracket but it is only about 10% louder at most. The hella horns are much louder. i may get me a set in the spring.

I installed the hella's as well, but do not find them THAT MUCH louder than stock.....not enough to justify the price. Fortunately I bought them used from another member or I would have been very disappointed.

Has anyone posted videos or sound clips? I, too have been thinking about this upgrade, but I'm hesitant.
