As many of you know I am trying to install a V8 from a CL500 in my car and will need the electronics set up with the Star Diagnostic system. I have been quoted up to $2000 to have this programing done. I now see systems for sale for less than mechanics are quoting me and it would be nice to have this as I do my own work. These systems apear to be knock offs and in some cases the real thing but earlier versions that can't handle newer 2008-2009 MB cars. What do you guys think of these systems? Here is one example of many, but you also have to have an IBM T30 which can be had really cheap.

this would not help me at all,, and i too am would like to put a v8 into my crossfire,, my problem is ,,,i just learned my cell phone, no every body wants me to learn a computer. jim

 

We have DAS and that's not going to get you the necessary tools to complete the tuning and swap.

If you do buy it, buy the one with the HW installed on the Laptop already. They may be a little more but the hard drive that the software comes on is garbage. Ours died after 2 weeks.
