I just came out of a store and to my surprise there was guy parked next to with a red crossfire that had badges on the side saying Turbo edition!

He said he saw my exhaust and wanted to hear it bc he had stock exhaust still on his.

The car had the badges on the side and back, and also looked like he had upgraded brakes.

He wouldnt let me see under the hood but i took a look by the exhaust and there was no extra tubing in the rear, so everything fits under the hood!

The info i got from him is that it was made by Hennessy from Hennessy performance for his wife and is a one off so no kit in the making
I asked him about electronics,if it had fuel management etc, and he just said that the electronics were dialed in. The car was also an auto.


I know sounds pretty shady dont know what he is hiding.. I left the same time he did and he just blew pass me like nothing.

Their not making a kit and yet he wouldn't let you see under the hood?? Anyone who had a "one-off" system built for himself would be proud to show it off to another Crossfire owner... Can you call Hennessy and ask? Tell them you might also be interested in this modification. They make more profit second time around with most the NRE covered...

Did you look in the trunk for a bottle of NOS??? (Turbo in a bottle)

 

Seams to me that with all the turbo badging, he would want to open the hood to show you the setup.

 

The guy was BS.

Any crossfire owner would happily share a view of his "stock" motor.

This guy is nothing but stickers.
Tell him to use red electrician's tape on the skirts. Best speed sticker mod for the buck out there.

He didnt have it modified himself bc he didnt have much knowledge or was playing stupid lol

He said that it was Hennessey's wife's car and the badges were no cheap walmart kind they were real nice! fit well with the side inserts.

I only took a glimpse inside and said the auto but nothing also really stood out..

If he did have NOS i dont think he we be using it speed through a shopping center

 

Oh - when you said he "blew-by-you" you made it sound like you were both on the open road and you had no chance to catch him....

just about anybody can "blow-by" just about anybody in a parking lot....

 

Did you hear the turbo spool up? or a blow off?

 

Yeah, a blow off valve would be the best indication, although there are some fakes out there. I would've guessed NOS as well, since he wouldn't let you see under the hood . I don't know why he wouldn't, unless he was hiding something

 

i seen one too! it had quad turbos running 43psi, he would not let me see under his hood either but he had a sticker on the side of his car saying "this is for real, it has 4 turbos and 43psi and is super fast and it is a super rare top secret limited porsche edition". It was a really long sticker that ran from the front fender to the rear fender but it looked legit.

wow was that thing crazy.

 

I have a good idea....he was lying. There is some of the brightest minds of the crossfire age on here and no turbo has come from this website. He was full of SH@T!!

I doubt it too - but!! - you never really know.

Not everyone who owns and modifies a Crossfire is a member of this forum..

It has been done before... As I remember - these guys were on the forum like 3 or 4 years ago and were chased away by the ney-sayers.....

 

I am a mechanical engineer and i know pretty much everything about these cars so i know what i need to look for and what questions to ask but he wouldnt let me. And i told him to rev the engine up for me but are engines are limited to low in park to hear spool it could be just a smaller turbo that would be easier to program and modify..

Sorry for getting everyone excited i want a turbo xfire as much as everybody else
Ill keep an eye out now i know what to look for since he lives somewhere close to me and ill make sure ill get some pics and get him on the forum

well, let's hope there is one out there, and I know I have had my doubts too....but, now we know V-8's fit, and turbos can be mounted...electronics, when done by a company like Hennessy and their connections, could very well have happened...but, with all the cars out there, not sure Hennessy would do a one off, unless their was some huge cash on the table..that's just good business...so, who knows...sounded neat though.....

 

I wonder if the suspension works?

If you could pick it up cheap (even without the engine) and toss in a factory drive train and paint it black.......
