Default cigar lighter

Just purchased 2005 crossfire roadster with 8000 florida miles on it, when I got it home I found out cigar lighter not working. 15 amp fuse ok in block 31 and light in glove compartment works. which is part of 15 amp fuse. I wanted ot use for my gps lighter that was in cigar lighter has never been used.so probably faulty since day 1. ANY SUGGESTION on what to do? looks like miserable job to replace, maybe should wire up a new 3 plug after market receptacle?

Take a simple test light to it see if youu have current. If not you will/should check the connectors behind the outlet. Yes, this means pulliing your console but there are threads on that here.

On mine the previous owner has obviously had something constantly stuck in it which had pushed out the internal prongs causing it not to work. Make sure the power is off and simply stick something in to push them back out again.

Worth a try...

He says the lighter has never been used, but could it be that it's the lighter itself that is broken and he assumes there is no power. Stranger things have happened.

This is likely the case. I've found that something similar to dentist pick is an excellent tool to reset the prongs, assuming of course, that the power issue is dealt with beforehand.

I also just bought a 2005 Limited Coupe..... push lighter in and it dosen't stay....bought a USB plug that goes into the lighter to test if it was operable..... the blue light came on.... looks like the lighter is bad. and appears never used and elemnets inside clean....... before getting the USB plug.... told my wife to stick het finger in there as a test..... she told me to go you know where (LOL)..... now if she was blond I'd probably have had to stop her (LOL).

Was going to order the Cigar Lighter since mine will not stay in when pushed.... needs to be physically held in.

The Chrysler parts fellow looked it up..... there were 2 option choices ($50+ and $60+). The amount covers the lighter and a couple of other parts to assure it works. Only wanted a working and matching lighter, period. That is way too much to spend on just a lighter...... so I didn't order it.
