Supercharger new news?!
Anyone have any new news on the Crossfire's supercharger that might be covered under the DC warranty?! I'm really interesting in getting this when it does come out, but my dealer has no club about this....
I know so of you work for DC or at least know a lot more about this then me! are there any performance mods that will be coming out for our car covered under the warranties as long as they are performed by their DC techs?!
thanks !!

I'm interested too. I've looked at Renntech and Kleemann but both would be quite a ways from Missouri. And if I have any problems I'd have to make the trip again or worse have it hauled there.
The Kleemann is the most interesting to me so far. A MOPAR installation by the dealer would be great!

Here is the info that I received from Kleemann:

Wheew! thanks for that info AirData!! It's a much cheaper upgrade then Renntech who wants a lot more for their stuff!
But I was hoping for an upgrade from the dealers... would like to keep the warranty since I did pay for the extended one
Does anyone know for 100% ... if I change parts on the engine... will that kill the warranty for the rest of the car? or only for the parts I changed?
I did see this company gives a 1 year warranty! ... too bad its in CO and kinda hard to get it to their shop if something breaks

It will only void the warranty on the parts that a change you make has a direct effect on. If you put a supercharger on the dealer can void the warranty on your engine.

As Boba noted... D/C offering the upgrade (like many other manufacturer's do in their "performance" aftermarket lines) is the only way you're gonna get an upggrade that doesn't totally void your OEM warranty.

I believe it only voids the warranty if you have a problem, though. They would still do routine service and such. But if you buy a supercharger you'd want to do the maintenance anyway. You'd have to change the oil every 3000 miles and with a good expensive synth. You'd probably want to put in some good redline tranny oil, too.
I doubt Mopar or anything associated with Chrysler will come out with an upgrade supercharger. The SRT (amg) version has not only a supercharger added, but injectors, ecu, lower compression, better head gasket, forged internals, etc.
If you just slapped on a supercharger, ecu, and fuel, the bottom end would still be weak and at a higher compression, you would have to run less boost. Basically you wouldn't see the HP numbers the SRT does, and it woulnd't last as long either.
Now purchasing the SRT and changing out the pulley, upgrading exhaust, intake, and fuel, adjust the trims, more psi. I don't see why you couldn't squeeze out 400hp
Ok now I remember why I got the coupe. I've already wasted enough money chasing the never ending HP / TQ pipe dream. It is only as good as the day you put it on. Then you start to break ****

And I don't understand what warranty has to do with "routine service and such". We all >pay< for routine service, D/C isn't selling Crossfire's like some mfg's do with free lifetime routine maintenance, are they? Sure, some dealers give a free first oil change, or sell you a maintenance contract, but in the end you're still paying for maintenance service. The only thing it has to do with your warranty is if you FAIL to perform the recommended maintenance and something fails that probably wouldn't have failed if you'd maintained your car per D/C recommendations, D/C >could< not cover the failure under warranty.
Oh, and ALL Crossfire's require a "good expensive synth" motor oil. Supercharged or stock.

5 transmissions later, 2 motors, axles, 1500 mile mobil one oil changes, $8 a gallon race fuel, high insurance, etc.....
I took this car back to factory spec, sold all the modifications on the side. Made back 11k, which wasn't even close to what I had into it. Traded in the car and got the Crossfire. So far all I've had to do to it, was fill up with gas, and change oil.
Worth it? Hell yea. Would I do it again? NO! I can't afford it.
I want speed, I buy something fast.
Unless you got $$$$$$$$ burning a hole in your pocket, don't even think about slapping on just a supercharger. Only thing worse would be nitrous, which btw I never used =)

DC says they make about 2,000 srt's i don't think they'll be flying out the door at sticker, maybe $ 5k off!I bought a NSX under list in 91,they only shipped 2000 units to USA.Porsche sales are down and those buyers are constant.Cost is not the only factor,aLOYAL buyer is always going to pay for what they want! This is a possible one time car.And that will not help!New Corvette,New Porsche,New Mustang,300 HEMI cpe next year!
