Default Help again

Hello everyone.
Last week i asked where the pressure switch for the tank was for my Yellow NA roadster, as my engine light was on. I had already replaced the fuel filter, but the light stayed on. After I found the pressure switch for the tank, and cleaned the plug, it solved my engine light problem. Now, this week, it is starting hard. I have to crank it for a bit before it fires. It usually tries to start then dies. I crank it again for a bit and then it starts up and stays running. Any thoughts? I read in one of the threads that it could be the fuel pump, but whats the chances of that being the problem .. Anyway, any input would be great.
Thanks,
Dave

Didn't leave some debris behind when you cleaned the switch, or installed the fuel filter did you? Sounds like either a pressure problem, or a blockage problem since you were working in those areas. I would go back over the work you just did, to be sure.

Get in the car and leave the door open, turn the key to 'on', not start. Do you hear the fuel pump whirring? The pump works until the fuel pressure in the line is up to spec. and then quits. The fuel pump may have a lazy relay with bad contacts if you do not hear that noise every time. You have to wait awhile for the pressure to drop before it will do it again. when the engine is running the pump will run basically all the time. Fuel surplus to requirements returns to the tank, but the pressure is maintained.
That is my understanding of the system, I could be totally wrong.
