hey all, i drive an 05 srt6. i was thinking about modding the rear window to have the capability to be taken off. whenever i have the windows down i hear the wind twice. it comes in, funnels into the trunk, and shoots back out between the driver and passenger seat making it hard to hear music, etc.

my only issues is how to do it, and how can i redo the radio since the wiring is built into the window?
any ideas / perspectives are welcome.

 

Just when you thought that you have heard every possible question that could be asked about a Crossfire! That would be an interesting mod. Kinda like a rear targa. It will be interesting hearing some viable solutions to this.

~ i use to have a C4 corvette and many would add a rear glass extention latch to crack the rear window while driving to eliminate the wind buffing inside... perhaps something like this can be used to slightly pop the rear hatch?

how about a s2000 aeroscreen between the seats to disrupt the airflow? cheaper and not as drastic a mod

 

i dont think that would work because then the air would be funnel into the car, and just hover around ther driver / passenger heads instead of going somewhere... idk how that would end up

 

I don't see how that vette vent would work on ours because the Vettes glass raises and somehow our whole hatch would have to rais and I don't think that would be a good idea. My idea would be to have a flow through vent under the wing, so that when that raised at speed, on the NA's anyway then the air would flow through. I think the windscreen idea may work if it was plexi that basically sealed the area off. In fact next week I'm planning on putting in a cardboard cutout to attempt to see if even this minimal block would work.

One thing I just noticed is after putting on 235's up front, the wind has been somewhat diverted that I don't get as much when the windows are 3/4 down. Before I couldn't have the windo 1/2 down before it got really thumping back there. Know it sounds crazy but it's true. It's still there, just not as bad, so apparently there is some turbulence off the front wheel well with the standard 225's and the small bit of extra space that isn't there as much with the 235's.

the other option I was thinking was the corner window if it could have the venting capability instead of fixed I think that would solve the problem too. Doing that however would be a chore. and probably really expensive too.
