Default Upsolute ECU Upgrade

Well, I did it! I made the trip out to Intense Motorsports in Chino Hills today and had Lanny Richardson do it to me. Arrived there at 3:30 p.m. and was out by 4:30 p.m. There was supposed to be a one week wait while a chip was programmed but I was fortunate in that there was already a program available for my ECU number, outstanding!

Haven't had much time to put it to the test but I can tell you that 2nd, 3rd and 4th gears definitely have a little more humph. The only true way to tell what the chip is doing is to perform a dyno and I won't put this car through that load right now, there is no reason to. I sent an email to Lanny telling him that something happened because I can feel it. Definitely got some more pull in 2nd, 3rd and 4th. And according to Lanny, this ECU upgrade is good for 15 to 20 horsepower, it all depends on the car.

So, for $400.00 it is definitely worth the trip if you are in Southern California.

P.S. Hey Will, Lanny is still waiting for you to come back and finalize yours.

Hi Ed....

any chance we can do a quick local hook up once I am back down in SoCal from Seattle and compare ???
Don't worry I don't want to drive the cleanest Xfire ever...a quick spin in shot gun will do to compare.

Of course. Just drop me a line when you are back and we'll make arrangements to meet up somewhere between your place and mine.

Just got back from having Lanny in Chino Hills chip mine. Fun meter was pegged all the way home. Buttdyno indicates noticable increase in torque. After the trip to Willow Springs I have a pretty good idea what it feels like to accelerate from 2500 rpm in 3rd and it's definately pulling harder. Next it's K&Ns and then I'll probably be satisfied (for a while  )

I just requested the before and after Dyno sheets to see what the heck is actually going on with their mod. If it looks good then I may take the dive and get it myself.

lol, it took me a minute before I realized what type of dyno you have.

One thing I have noticed besides the power increase, I have very little carbon buildup in the exhaust tips now. Before it would stay pretty black. It appears that the car is running much cleaner after the upgrade. Anyone else noticing the same?

    That's a pretty funny statement from someone who cleans every part of his car every mile :!: :!:

Are you going to join us in September, because a "Hook-Up" would just not be the same without you 8)

Cleans every part of his car every mile.
Not me! I can go at least 20-30 miles without a wipe!
