Cool Hot air blowing when heat/fan turned off?

We had this problem a few times and been unable to replicate predictably for the mechanic.

Basically without warning the fan will blow hot air at full force, either at start up or when driving randomly. It doesn't change temp or speed if fan is 0-5 or even if the A/C button is pressed, or if you try to change it.

Occasionally I can get it to stop blowing by banging on the left side of the console. The radio will also very randomly screech static and the drivers side window sometimes gets stuck in the down position. Don't know if that's related though.

Any thoughts?

Sounds like an electrical short. How long have you had it, is it a roadster and any chance it was a flood car?

Heater/Blower ~ Radio ~ Window.....!!!!

Electrically, none of them seem to be related.

It would be nice if one of the issues failed solid...

This would allow you to trace specific wiring for a single issue. And maybe lead you to a common group of wires, or grounding point.

I wouldn't be surprised if you found a wire bundle tie rapped or held together, where the physical location of groups of wires were affecting different circuits.

It's hard to believe that one wiring issue (shorted/burnt/or open) could impact so many things (even the ground runs shouldn't be connect in series across this many systems)...!!!

I agree, thats what started me to think of a Roadster with an open top in a heavy rain or a flood car. Rust in the electrical circuits. This works with the check engine light in his previous post.

The definition of an electrical short is an electrician less than 5'6".
