Default New Key - Need Some Help

Hey Lads,

Well I had my crossfire key stolen some months ago, and it was my only key. Ordered a new key. Two months later it turned up at a cost 611 dollars. Trust me. I searched around. That is just the cost in oz.

Anyway. I had the ECM out for that whole time just in case the perpetrator came and tried to steal the car.

I put it back in the car after three months. Flat battery. Changed battery. OK. All good. Put the key the key in the ignition barrel and it wont turn! Wont work in the doors either. With the lock buttons on the inside of the doors. You cant actually push them either.

It is like the car is locked. Steering is also locked. So effectively the key is seemingly the wrong one? Even though it has been cut and programmed from the VIN.

Anyway. I have attached pictures of the blade. It is cut on both sides. Same pattern. But mirrored and flipped. Can one of you blokes whip your keys out and have a look and let me know if that seems right.

Also. Any other ideas?

Also. Starting the car after so long of no action. Probably closer to four months. Anything I should do prestart?

Thanks in advance.

Vio.

Mine are both flat on the end.
Just reread your post, wrong key somehow. Get your money back and order it from the States, $200 or there abouts.

Well...checked out the photos and it actually looks right me! Maybe the wrong cut. Or maybe something more sinister.

If it would turn then it would be the electronic chip, not turning says its the wrong cut to me. Lets hope the electronics are correct.

Maybe the wrong key was sent and there's another guy around with the same problem.

that would be hilarious....two poor bastards with perfectly good crossfires that cant be started.

Anyway...back to the second part of the questions....can I just start the car after that long of not running it - will be 5 months by the time I have the key. Or should I change fuel and oil?

My key is the same blank. Put the key in the ignition. Jiggle the wheel back and forth gently, while trying to turn the key to the on position. If it turns to the first position turn it all the way to the start position, but don't crank. Let it sit in on position for a minute, then start. Let it run for two minutes. Turn to off ,but don't remove. Restart, let run, then shut off and remove. See if doors work ,etc. Once the fob batt. is removed changed, etc. it needs to be reset. There are better instructions on the forum site, but this is how it goes as best as I can remember. Read Forum first, do what it says!!!!!!
