i think the performance may worsen do to pulling hot air into the filters from the engine compartment.

Agree. That would be sucking in some awefully hot air. Looks like a very bad idea.

useless - the engine bay runs stupidly hot IMO.

All they will do is suck in masses of hot air, and ruin the performance, sound nice though

But what if they were shielded and attached to the oem ducts in the core support so that it would draw the air from outside.

Still pants IMO. The intake system narrows stupidly once into the airboxes. This would cause a major bottleneck !

Good point. I'm in the process of designing my own intake. I'll post some pics when I'm done.

Looks like the Star Ship Enterprise (Beam Me Up Scotty)

But, does seem to be an idea worth investigating... If he/she reamed the guts out of the inside of the air box could work depending how closley the cone filters fit up to the cowl surrounding the fan...

If the cones are aligned directly above the fan, I think the air temp would be substantially cooler as most hot air will pool near the mid/back of the engine bay...

Also, if the cones fit directly above the fan I would assume the increased air flow form the fan would feed the filters better than the little intake tubes that are currently there, which rely on foraward movement to a point...

Where did you find the photo ???

But doesn't the fan force air directly towards the block? They don't appear to me that they drop low enough to be in the direct stream from the fan, so they'd be sucking air that's already reflected off a hot surface???
