Default Interesting Comment From Kleeman Rep.

Spoke with a Kleeman Rep. today about their upgrades and discussed all aspects from SC to ECU...

Aside from the things that really interested me which were supercharging etc... He mentioned that the ECU remap was a waste of money in his opinion and only affected the perfomance of the car at higher speeds... 100+ and it was so minimal that it did not warrant the cost...

Since I rarely even get to 100 I tend to agree if he is being forthright...

I'm still waffeling on the subject of upgrade to supercharger / intercooler with a manual tranny, or take delivery on the SRT6 with a auto stick and YUCKY whale tail and monotone interior...

Just thought I would share the thoughts of a confused man... NO RESPONSE NECESSARY....

Maybe what Kleeman does to the ECU only affects it at 100+, but I, and I'm sure many others, will attest to the fact that the change is noticable as soon as the car starts moving.

It is a more pronounced difference in performance at 60 and up.
At least this is the case with the UPsolute chip mod.

Perhaps he meant that on top of the supercharging etc... the ECU mod isn't that noticable, or cost effective.

Thanks Matt:

He specifically stated that low end torque would not be effected by an ECU upgrade on the Crossfire with or without SC'r... It would add maybe 6-10hp on the dyno, but wouldn't be noticable until you're hitting top end 100+...

I'm more interestested in the 50-90 mph range for road courses and that is the purpose of the research...

I'm just forwarding the information from the Kleeman guy... Take it for what it's worth...

Since you seem know about the ECU, do any of the other companies raise the REV limiter and SPEED limiter with their remap ?

LOL wow... yah its not at all what Upsolute does... if you take a look at the ECU mapping results that have been posted before you can see where exactly the engine performs different... I know for a fact the ECU changes the 0 - 60 time majorly... and the 1/4 mile... and around 70 - 93ish.. HOLY huge change!!!!

HDDP.... That Kleeman guy is full of crap and obviously has no clue what he's talking about! It's a very noticable improvement. Especially in mid and high end torque. My 0 - 60 times went from 6.4 seconds to 5.7 seconds. That's with nothing more than K&N filters and Upsolute chip..... If that guy is typical of the folks at Kleeman I wouldn't let them work on my lawnmower. He doesn't know is butt from a spark plug.

Hmmmmm,Derek if the chip guys don't produce that much change overall then why don't people get their money back.

I know you're interested in more power but when you get your SRT, WHO will race you !Won't it move you into a different class of cars at the tract.

And if you take the spoiler off is that so you can look more like the stock XF and blow off unsupecting Corvettes or What.

The SRT6 may be able to play with a standard Vette.... But I wouldn't mess with a Z06 or a C6.... I think you would get your feelings hurt.

yah... SRT-6 IMO... just not worth the money... id rather take my crossfire and make it SCCA material! and if I wanted a track car... its a Viper, Supra, Rx7 FD.... cars that are made to do insane stuff all the time!

All the companies I contacted said they wouldn't raise or remove the speed governor for legal reasons. (Although you still have to sign a liability waiver anyway)

I didn't want to raise the rev. limit, so I didn't ask about that.

-I'm VERY happy with the performance of the UPsolute chip mod in my car, and as I never intended to add a turbo or SC, I felt it was well worth the money.

Sorry to bug ya WMichaels. but 5.7 to 60 is pretty impressive.now it would only make sense "correct me if im wrong" that if you 0-60 went down .7 your 1/4mi should reflect a similar or greater change no? Just curious. Guessing stock you would have ran around a 14.7 or so. That would put you into a 14.0 very nice. You have a 6speed or auto?

Bullseye The man in search of more oopmh!

That would be my guess but I haven't done any 1/4 mile times yet. The closest track to Virginia Beach is up by Richmond (Virginia Motorsports Park)... I just haven't had the time when I'm not autocrossing. Other than a "nice to know" thing I'm really not concerned about 1/4 mile times. For autocrossing 0 - 60 times are more relative.

And a rolling 0-60 is important too. you're not going to rev your tranny to 2000-2200rpm and blast off without problems later.Of course if you don't tell the dealer that you're racing your car on the weekend than they might pay for it.but that might be too much info.

Care to explain exactly how one goes from "0-60" when already "rolling"?
