Default Upsolute Chip Sign-Up... Phoenix

Okay gang, herees the scoop on getting our cars chipped here in Phoenixc

In an attempt to get something going, I've been in touch with Lanny from Upsolute in Chino Hills, CA. Listed below is what needs to happen and how things will be handled:

¥ The Upsolute Chip will be used.

¥ $400.00 is the total cost per car.

¥ $100.00 "Non-Refundable" deposit is required to sign up to deter no shows and provide Lanny a gguaranteedh amount of money for making the trip to Phoenix.

¥ Refunds will only be given gif Lanny does not show as scheduledh (in which case I will have big time egg on my face not to mention all the crow I'll have to eat as I return your money).

¥ Wefll need a minimum of gsixh cars signed on with a deposit in order to provide him with the $600.00 he requires to make the trip.

¥ Deposits are to be made out and sent to me in the form of a cashiers check.

¥ After all checks have cleared the bank I will inform Lanny and the arrangements will be made for him to come to Phoenix..

¥ I will hold the deposit money until he arrives and starts working on our cars.

¥ The work will be done at my home in Mesa.

To get this thing going and keep it from dragging on and on I want to put a one week time limit for each step of the way.

Aug 17: Must have six serious commitments.
Aug 24: Must have collected $600.00 in deposits.
Aug 31: Cashiers checks must have gallh cleared the bank.

Using the above time table and taking into account the Labor Day weekend and our Sin City trip it looks like Sep 18th is the day we should plan on getting our cars done.

Ifve been as upfront an open about all this as I can bec please post only if you are seriously considering getting your car chippedc no PMfs or e-mails, thanks.

If we can get together to do this, great!!! If not, no sweat, I'll make the trip to CA myself.

A quick question or two. Have any forum folks done this mod to a 6 speed?
If so, was the performance change noticeable? At Colorado's altitude, even with fuel injection, we lose a bit of power and I sure wouldn't mind getting some back.

I would only assume the same noticeable power increase would hold true for our 6-Speeds. I'll be the first to post if we can ever get enough people signed on to have Lanny come out here to chip our cars.

It doesn't look like we're going to get enough people signed on by the 17th. Bringing this back to the top one last time.....

Bob... looks like no one else is interested. I e-mailed Lanny not to bother coming out. Oh well, we tried.

bummer dude...
You couldn't get some LV folks to drive down for another Ice Cream-Up and get chipped the same day????? Maybe the right folks just aren't reading the right part of the board? Did you try PM's and emails to people listing themselves as AZ or close by? I've had to do that for the Cross-Ups since apparently out of the 2,000+ forum members only about 20-30 check in every day (or even once a week).

Beside bobk and his Inferno Red roadster, no one from PHX or LV are interested in the chip. I guess maybe they are shying away because if something goes wrong, we don't have anyone close by to straighten out any problem that may come up. Sending the $100 non-refundable up front money to a total stranger may also be a concern to some folks.

As for the Up's, unless it's been one of the ones we had in SO CA... it's been just a few of us getting together. As you've seen, the majority of the folks that attending Up's are from CA. There's not too many people willing to drive 700 miles round trip for dinner and ice cream like Vegas did a few weeks ago and us doing it this weekend for the "Aw Shucks-Up" (we can't call them a "Hook-Up"... didn't have five cars).:wink:

I was debating getting in on this, but sending $100 bucks to a complete stranger did have me a bit concerned, to be honest - just as AZ said; I was holding back to see if a bunch of other people got on board - mostly so if we all got ripped off then I wouldn't feel like the one sucker

That being said, if it got to the point where we only need one more car to make it work, I would be willing to be that one car. So I guess if we need 5 cars, and you can get four, I'll be the fifth.

YO DAN... IT'S OVER, THE SIGN-UP DEADLINE HAS COME AND GONE. FORGET ABOUT IT. AS STATED ABOVE, NOT ENOUGH PEOPLE WERE INTERESTED FOR "WHATEVER" REASON. AS FOR YOUR INFAMOUS PM'S.... READ THE FIRST POST, EVERYTHING WAS TO BE DONE ON THE FORUM.

I can understand your concern. On the other hand there are at least 16 - 20 Hook-Up Survivors on this forum who have my phone number. Another couple have my address. Also, with my license plate being displayed in my avatar, I wouldn't have been too hard to track down.

Thanks for your reply and concern...

I didn't know about the phone numbers and stuff, and honestly I'm not usually so paranoid about this kind of thing - but my checking account was recently "hacked" and it's been hell getting that all sorted out, so I suppose I'm a little gun-shy. Thanks for understanding, and Phx area cars ever try to get this rolling again, I'll be a more active participant next time.

Thanks again for trying to work this out for us, though.

Xeth: It is too bad that AZ is a complete stranger to you. We have all enjoyed getting together for Hook-Ups, it is a shame you have not joined us. It's not too late! The Sin City Hook-Up is September 11 and the Big Bear Hook-Up in California is in October. Hope to meet you!

I wasn't asking anyone.
But since those XF owners posted before to me I Thought it might help get them out of the woods.
