Default v8 xfire

hey this isnt something i would do but something i have been pondering the difficulty of. how hard do you guys think it would be to put the mercedes 430 engine in our car? even the 500. i only ask because every model of benz that comes with the 320, besides the slk, offers these engines, the 500 obviously having replaced the 430 a few years back. i wonder if any benz people have done this. i would imagine it would be cheaper than one of the 10k upgrades, but im not sure of that.

Sorry, I'm still new to the Crossfire realm and haven't yet thought about things of this nature....

I'm guessing you'll run into issues with fitment, though. There seems to be a bit of extra room in the engine compartment, but it's still pretty tight.

Also, what about mount points?

x'ed,

I like your idea. I've been thinking about how I could buy a wrecked SL500 or 2nd hand SL 32AMG engine and drop it in after my warranty is up.

http://www.startech.de/homee.htm

Pick: Programs -> Crossfire

The STARTECH V8 6.1 engine delivers 426 hp / 313 kW at 5,400 rpm and produces a gigantic peak torque of 621 Nm at 4,100 rpm.

6.1l making only 426hp... that is uber weak imo.... Renntech will put ours to 3.5l and make it 404hp... but I know that supercharged... just to me... for some reason 6.1l making that much just doesnt seem that stunning....

The V8 is massive loads of torque, very low down in the range.

I'm a low torque shift high person... meaning I dont like big engines.. unless its a sweet 10 or v12 ... thats different.... but i'm a "build it up" person... aka "ricer" as some of you call them lol.... I enjoy seeing a 4 or a v6 get moved into big speed ranges with modifications... instead of just some old lady buying a 5.7l vette...

All good and well to build up motors to ludicrous hp levels, but some of these companies want them to go out the door and know that they won't break.

Touring the AMG factory last year in Stuttgart, we were told that many an AMG customer were ex Brabus customers who broke everything they ever bought.

AMG's less is best policy ensured that things did not break. I don't have a lot of faith in the super hp conversions.

Default that's what amg says!

hi guys!

they might have told you that in the amg factory, but that's only one side of the story! i think the brabus guys know exactly what they're doing, cuz they're even giving you a four-year warranty for their engine mods!
i guess they're till top notch and amg isn't any competition. they even fix up an sl 55 and they're best engine has already 640 horses. that's more than the sl 65 will have!

@boba:
guess you like high-pitch-8000-rpm sounds. 6.1 liter isn't too much for over 400 hps at all, watch the torque!

There is no substitute for displacement.

Displacement = Torque.

i gotta say im with boba, i like high revs too, but in this car there doesnt seem to be any way to mod it like that.
on a different note, i wish someone would make cams for us that didnt cost 4 grand. i talked to startech and thats how much they are. actually, im not sure if they are 4 or 5, it was so much i didnt care.

I think the saying is: "There's no replacement for displacement".

See? It rhymes - aren't I clever?
