Default Double wrench -300 won't reset

I found the diy procedure but i must be club handed or something because i can't get it to reset.

Turn ign on
With in 4 sec hit trip reset button twice
FSS is supposed to come on for 10 seconds?
I never get past this point because it just stays with the double wrench -300 on the display.
What am i doing wrong?

You have to hit the button twice within 1 second - not 4. Do a search for FSS reset - I'd post a link but I'm on my phone and it doesn't want to play well with others right now

Good luck!

Maybe this might work:

Plenty of owners have fits with this, so don't feel bad if you don't get it on the first try

What a pain what a stupid design. I turn the ignition to on. All the lights come up. With in 4 seconds i preset the reset button twice within 1 second. It never changes the display. It stays at double wrench -300

Whats it supposed to change to??? Thats what you want displayed when you turn the key off and then back on isn't it.. didn't do a search and review.. just top of my head..

Um... "yes Mrmiata..that's what supposed to disiplay".. then we follow these steps..

3. During the 10 seconds the FSS service request is displayed,
move the ignition switch to the “OFF” position.
The FSS service request will continue to be displayed.
4. Press the reset button for the trip odometer and
hold.
5. Move the ignition switch to the “RUN” position
6. Continue to press and hold the reset button for the trip
odometer (about 10 seconds) until the audible signal
sounds and the new start distance appears in the display.
The tool symbol should disappear at this time.

The -300 is the FSS.

When you're in the negatives, I believe it will display for a longer period to let you know you need service (or you need to reset the FSS). Follow the procedure to the letter and see if it will clear. Keep trying .... it can be a pain in the ****.

What a pos this is design is. The only thing i ever saw it do was turn a little oil icon on but it still never clears this code.

Well, there might be other forum members in your area that might be able to stop by and take a shot at it. I can't see your location on my phone, but I assume you're somewhere in Texas. Throw out a shout for help in your city and see if anyone chimes in.

I finally got it to work. That DIY needs editing. When doing the steps there can be ZERO delay between each step.

I had a hell of a time doing this and I usually find this kind of stuff very easy. I think what made it finally work was not turning it from "Run" all the way to "Off" and only go back as far as "ACC". I don't want to give any misinformation but maybe someone could test this theory next reset...

Agreed, when I did the double wrench I had to be quick, no delay. Single wrench, following the instructions works just fine.
