6000k will look just like a factory audi hid system.

8000k will have a bluer look...this is what i have. i like them very much in my crossfire. no one ever flashes me at night.

12000k...they will not resemble factory hid's...they will appear purple and look fake to the eye. i wouldn't recommend these.

hope this helps.

I just did HIDs last week and I really wouldn't get anything above 6000. It looks cool but it won't be anywhere near as bright as a 6000 or lower. The whitest light is produced at around 4300 so if you are strictly interested in lighting up the road, get something close to 4300.... If you want more color, I'd go to 6000 but thats it. From doing the research Ive seen that most people say 6000 is the best blend between color and brightness.

No OEM manufacturer puts out cars with above 6000. Phillips and Hella don't make any bulbs or conversion kits higher than 6000 either, the reason being they are not as bright, and the colors produced actually makes your eyes (and other drivers) tire faster. 10000k and above are just jokes.. I saw a 14000k kit and all it is is an HID black light, I swear. Real deep dark reddish purple. It will light up reflections way down the road, just like a black light would, but putting actual white bright LIGHT on the ground will be an impossible mission.

I actually have 6000 and the light is mainly a whitish bluish purple. The amount of light it puts down is incredible. I was going to go 5000, just for more light, but I did want some nice color. 5000 down to 4300 is just WHITE. I know several guys on here have 8000k, and I'm sure it's very bright and looks great. Just realize it's just not as bright as it could be, and the color is a deeper darker blue than something you'd see stock.

Anyway there are a lot of websites that show actual photos of the color you can expect. It's easy to get the color off the web, you just can't see the brightness.

Bottom line is it's up to everyone's preference. Some people who want only performance might want 4300, if your xfire is a showcar, choose the 14000k. Pick the color you like, choose the brightness you want, check the deals you can get on which kits, and make your decision from there.
