Mustang GT...CYA
This was just too fun not to post. Hell, it's my first post here ever, having had my roadster for 6 months now almost. I love reading about what you all are doing to your cars and get some great ideas i may use later.
However, the only thing i've done so far is put K&N air filters in my baby. So everything else is stock. Leading me to this: On Saturday, i'm coming back from Lexington KY and as i near the I75/I275 interchange in Northern KY, i'm bothered immensely by this huge "farting" sound (about the best description i can give it, sorry!). A brand new Mustang GT with modified exhaust and blower hood (fake? real? who knows) comes screaming by me. The driver was a "cap sideways" kinda fella; white guy with gold chains, etc. Well, I just couldn't have that now could I? So as we merge onto I275 in pretty decent traffic, we're weaving and bobbing and he obviously wants to go. So I go. Drop to 4th gear, and dust him at 120+ for almost a half mile. He can't catch me. Now, unfortunately, my exit was almost immediately upon me (esp. at 120+ mph) and i slowed to get off the ramp. I see him pass me and i get the finger from his buddy.
Now, the funny part. They slow down too and start to pull off the side of the road immediately after the exit ramp. I'm thinking that this turkey wants to follow me, or fight, or some such nonsense. Turns out, as i turn left back over the Xpressway, he's out of this car with the hood up and billowing smoke coming from the engine. LOL!!! The Crossfire not only just dusted a brand new modified Mustang GT, but blew the ******* up.
I'm like a proud father every time i look at my little red roadster these last few days, beating up on the school bully. It was just too funny a story not to tell.

This just proves anything is possible. Just like when I raced that STi, but i do once again believe this to be driver beating driver. Or possibly mechanical error on the GT's behalf. Either way nice kill.
He couldn't catch you because at over 90 Mph the new GT is so unstable it is scary to drive.
And I don't doubt that he blew it up, my guess would be a cracked head. Ford is gonna take a bath on this power train. It was rushed out and the build quality is very bad. Worse than normal ford craftsmanship.
I don't think I would want to take one off the line but if you pass one at 100 Mph they will roll the car before they catch up to you. So feel free to blow by GTs and flip them the bird at high speeds. :-)

stayed with a porsche at 150. couldn't have been stock, right. i don't mean to be a bs caller, but its hard to believe a 200gt would stay with a 911, unless it was something earlier than a 993. but i'm pretty sure you wouldn't have had a stock mustang, just like i wouldn't.
I don't know what to tell you. I have always owned sports cars and I am quite comfortable driving at 120+Mph. I stopped accelerating at ~95 because the car was already out of control. It felt like riding a cheap skateboard down a hill. Not only that but there is almost zero steering feedback.
I also have driven several iterations of the Mustang at high speed and never encountered the level of dangerous uncontrollability as the new Gts.
However, none approached the stability of the crossfire.

You should try driving a e46 m3 doing 155 in mine and you had to shake me to see if i was still awake. It was that smooth and stable.
Yes I drove it, white with red leather. The color changing dash, shaker 500, and manual trans.
It was awesome, but I did not like the red leather so we ordered a blue one. alas my wife began to complain about the V8, everybody she spoke with told her that they are cop magnets, having had two mustangs earlier in life and getting a ticket while attempting to obtain the third. It was decided that the V6 would have to do. Now the 17 year old in the way back of my brain kept shouting stick, stick, stick. We put a deposit down and waited for the right car, two months later still no car. I wanted to get the crossfire last october but again the wife suggested something with 4 seats, thus the Mustang. Hmmm who won this battle,??? only two issues where do I put the kids and my golf clubs?

Everyone asks me why I didn't wait and buy the new GT. Well for one it was 8 months away. Still got to test drive one. The crossfire seems to be the right choice for alot of people, but I wouldn't mind the music of a nice modular ford v-8 again.
I don't understand how this guy in the video couldn't pull away from the cops. I guess those mustangs really don't have the long legs for high speeds.
