Default Building Ford 9" set up

Ford 9" rear end,, into my car

I have decided to be the one to go this way, . some may want it also. so here is the info as of today.
I don;t know the cost at this time, but it can't be more than installing a V8 LOL
at this time I am building ONE, before it is finished ,if there is interest, please let me know as that could bring my cost down, and asap i could let everyone know what it will cost to own.
I look at it this was the Wave trac was 1200.00 and all you got was a limited slip.

The kit is going to consist of Ford 9" rear,, axles made to fit into your crossfire and withstand 1000+ hp,,,a one piece drive shaft with U-joint at the rear.

special spider gears in a Ford 9" pumpkin
either alum or carbon fiber drive shaft,
any gear set you want from 2.37 to 6.77
limited slip center section, detroit locker, spool or open rear.
and a tcu so it all works on your car.

Any progress, Jim? I would normally say that this would be a winter project, but you do not quite get "winter" in Florida.

thank you,, I only have fun and share the info. years ago i said, most people say a car is something to go from point to point,, I say the car is the point. then about 3 years ago Jessie James said almost the same thing on TV so JJ gets the credit,, he said people think a car is to go from point to point, I think the car is the point JJ. jim

Any updates, Jim?
I am still mulling around the idea of a 6spd and I know any stock replacement rear end will not fair well.

We, Rudy and I had to abandoned the ford 9" because of the cost , u had to buy a special housing for around 2000, the gears around 400, the axles for around 500 each and the R & D would cost us over 10000.
So I am doing a 3.46 Mercedes diff set up for the Crossfire for 3780, supply your diff and tcu get 500 core back,,, now for the 6 speed it is 5 or 6 hundred less because u don'r need a tcu ,,but have to look at my price sheet to be sure of the prices as i am not at home this week,, Oh, this is with a new wave trac but if u if you have one it is 1250 less again. lf u are interested in a 3.27,,3.46,, or for those people that wanr it,,with 6 speed we can do a 2.89 jim

I already have a wavetrac in my current diff.... Does the 3.46 use a different housing and bigger pinion? I am sick of breaking pinion gears.

it is a different housing I think,,checking with Rudy on that, but it does bolt up into the crossfire subframe . from my memory the pinion would be smaller but stronger,, where are you braking them ,,, the teeth or the shaft. jim

BTW people may have talked about Point to Point. I could do that with a '73 Vega GT (had a few, liked them). JJ said the car is the point. I disagree with that also unless it is a coffee table. The key for me as BL said is to travel "with style".
