Mercedes-Benz Chassis Codes Explained
Mercedes-Benz chassis codes can be confusing to a newcomer. There is some method to the madness but at other times it can seem just random. The C-Class is an excellent example of model naming simplicity. If only they had followed suit for every model line…
I've compiled into a pdf file a basic guide that was published by Greg Duffield @ FCP Euro that covers the vast majority of cars you or I will get our hands on. First he starts with the letter prefix at the beginning of a chassis code. Then he explains the models by chassis and their lineage. He does his best to only describe models that were available for the North American market.
