Radiator Cooling Fan Not Working

I recently purchased a used Crossfire and it turns out that there was not a radiator cooling fan in it, so I bought the fan and assembly, got it put in, but it didn't work. I took it to a mechanic who tested the fuses and one of the 50A fuses was blown and needed to be changed. A new fuse was put in, but the fan still did not work. The current theory is that the cooling module (part 0255455932) needs to be replaced, but before I go out an buy another part I wanted to see if anyone here on the forums had experienced a similar issue or had any suggestions.

Where are you located ?
If there is another owner near, try putting your module in their car.
If you don't know anyone close, send it to me and I'll see if it works in mine.
( send me a PM for address / phone )

BTW, it's called an FCM, or Fan Control Module.

here's one on fleabay the 'say' works, and it's pretty cheap :

Awesome, thank you for the link!

I'm in central Arkansas- I know there is someone else with a Crossfire nearby, but I'm not sure who they are. I'll see if I can find them. If not, I'll message you- thanks!

The engine cooling fan system is terribly simple - as is, it sounds, the "mechanic" you took the car to.

I WISH basic electrical / electronic troubleshooting was taught these days, but it is not.

THe FCM is powered by that 50A fuse. There is a comm link from the FCM to the PTCM consisting of one wire. The PTCM and FCM constantly handshake. If these handshakes quit due to a bad FCM, the PTCM will light the little radiator looking yellow light on the left end of the instrument panel - you can't miss that light. If that light is not on, you either have a bad fan motor or bad PTCM. If the FCM is really bad, the PTCM should light the light.

I'm really thinking the fuse was blown because the old fan motor was bad. You went out and got a new one, replaced the fuse, and all should have been ok.

Either you bought a bad fan motor assembly, or it is not plugged into the harness coming from the FCM.

@pizzaguy PCTM? Power top control module? How's that apply to the FCM?

pizzaguy is referring to the Power Train Control Module ( PTCM ) not the power TOP control module ( PTCM )
usually the former is called the ECM to avoid this confusion.
