Haha! Yes, I think they probably did but I couldnt believe that after all the checks I'd done diligently that the problem was really that simple. I guess I was too involved into looking at deeper seated problems so overlooking the relatively simple stuff. I learned my car maintenance skills back when they still had points and condensers so all this electronic wizardry leaves me a bit befuddled and thinking the worst. Thanks again and safe motoring!

 

That's right, he was told the first day to listen for the fuel pump running. Oops!
Said it was running so we all moved on, as you said though intermittent operation of the relay seemed to be the cause

 

I have the exact same issue and same model and year. Did all those things and now it just turns over and no start after that initial 2 second start.

 

GraemeQ, probably a good idea to start your own post. List detailed symptoms. The best way to get assistance is a detailed list of what is happening and what you tried already. Good luck!
