groaning noise when locking doors
groaning noise when locking doors
yes, theres a groaning humming noise coming from the trunk when i use to remote locks.
no nonebody in there, just the pump making this noise , last about 8 seconds after i lock or unlock but sometimes it doesnt groan at all.
the locks all work fine even if its groaning.
what could it be ?
thanks
dave

Re: groaning noise when locking doors
Thanks for the solution to your problem as mentioned above/
You may find that the hatch rattles now when you go over bumps. The solution to that would be obviously tightening the screws a little and or a couple of turns of duct tape or Gorilla tape around the catch on the latch, that is the bottom one on the car body.

Re: groaning noise when locking doors
Still no groaning !
i had to pull the trunk trim out (those clips break easy dont they) and the foam thing and the other foam around the pump , no evidence of water getting to the pump and all wires and air lines tight . I operated the locks several times ,it would groan for 10secs or so each time but lock and unlocked no problem.
Also I noticed a tiny bit of water droplets in the drain plug at the bottom . I had just pressure washed the car so i checked the usual suspects , fuel door gasket , spoiler mount, all good. Pressure washed the cars behind again and checked out the seal , it was the trunk seal leaking a little in , there was a tiny trail o water headed south .
I screwed in the stoppers on the lid to tighten the lid on the seal , put it all back together and Voila the pump is quiet again.
Not really sure what screwing in the stoppers did to stop the pump groaning ? but.. so far so good its quiet.
Lowering the lid stopped Almost all water getting past the seal but not quite with the pressure washer on it.
I will buy a new trunk rubber seal and that little water ingress should stop
trunk lid does not rattle :-)

Re: groaning noise when locking doors
I think the groan comes from the extra effort to pull the lock closed, the noise coming from the lock mechanism which probably has to reach a switch to say it has locked.
