Default 55 plate coupe auto issue...

Hi.

1st post.....

And I have a problem.

Picked up a 55 plate coupe, auto. Finally had a wee chance to get her out and see what she can do.

Issue appears to be autobox related. Car max'd out at 80 and went no faster, and when used manually appears to not have a 5th gear. Having had a quick look around forums and 'googling' obvious checks are transmission fluid and/or solenoid. Overall the box feels a little glitchy (technical term!)

Thoughts?

I seem to recall some good advice here about changing the (electrical) connector (updated part has less chance of leaking), this helped me do mine. Sorry I'm not tech savvy with links, probably find under 180's list of common repairs. Hope this helps a bit.

As I pointed out above, there are at least a dozen uTube videos on the 722.6 conductor plate replacement.

Looks like a fairly straight forward job. Car is going into a reputable autobox specialist Tollcross, Glasgow for a diagnosistic check. Car seller covering cost of initial inspection. If the issue is as highlighted here I'll get to it over the weekend and hopefully get to enjoy the new toy.

Go to leggy first thread 'Hi', I explain the ' 55 plate' meaning, I think it is about right.
