A/C button (snowflake) flickering red light and noise
When my air conditioner turns on, the light on the A/C button will begin to flicker. For clarity, the button with the snowflake is the button that has a small red light for on/off that is flickering when the air conditioner engages. That light has been flickering occasionally for months. But now, as of the warm weather in the last two days, the light flickers and there is a clunking noise in time with the flickering. The noise seems to emanate from under the passenger side dash--think air cabin filter area. I haven't started investigating this issue, yet. Just noticed it twice. Didn't see a solution in the long list of repair PDFs.
What is under there that could be making a noise in time with the A/C light flickering? Is the compressor near there? Is there fuses under there? Is it possible that the light isn't faulty, that the A/C is actually flickering on and off several times per second?
If I turn off the button and turn it back on, it works like normal, and so does the A/C.

The fan (blower motor) is in that area. If you haven't noticed, the ac light will not illuminate unless the fan is in its first position. It sounds as if the fan (blower motor) is engaging, then not (a short). Check the connection on the motor but , I would bet it comes down to the fan switch on the dash as the intermittent, culprit.

Go to the heating and cooling section of the Service Manual for how it all works. CLICK
Maybe you have a noisy switch which could cause an LED to flicker. Adding some suppression might attenuate the inherent spikiness of the switch.
Just a thought.
Cheers
