05 Crossfire
Hi need help my 05 crossfire battery was dead so purchased new battery installed new battery. With engine off and key not in car alternator started to smoke unhooked battery right away alternator was very hot. any help will be appreciated gary

By your description, I would say your alternator has an internal short. That is probably what killed your battery in the first place. Remove the alternator and have it checked out.
