Default Removing the accelerator pedal

I am working on an 2005 SRT6 roadster trying to remove the accelerator pedal. I can get the nut off closer to the bottom of the pedal. But trying to blind feel the top nut it seems to be plastic with 4 flats (wings) and I can't get anything in there to break it loose. Am I on the wrong nut or doing something wrong?
Thanks

I used to pull mine often, both were hex. Also one needs magnet to pick it up. Woody

I received a fiber optic camera from Harbor Freight for my birthday and it is the best thing since sliced bread for seeing places you otherwise cannot see. I find it invaluable for working on the car.
