Default Vehicle Diagnostic Tool

Can anyone recommend a good diagnostic tool? I bought one that used to be good and then they updated the firmware and it’s a piece of crap now. I’m not looking for professional level, but one that has good “bang for the buck”. I’ve been researching some, but I wanted to get input from the forum.

Thanks!

I've been happy with the Launch CRP123

That’s one that I’ve been researching! I appreciate the thumbs up. One thing, is the cable to the connector a reasonable length? I read a few reviews that recommended a longer one.

Thanks!!

I have the BlueDriver and it seems fine to me, using my iPad it is totally cable free. Look it up, it is about $100.
I have four readers in total and this one is the best one graphically.

I’ll check the Blue Driver out, that one isn’t one that I was reviewing. Thanks!

Hi all, I've been looking into both the Bluedriver and Launch CRP123. They both state that they work on cars from 2006 onwards only.?? Obviously from all these threads they both work on our 2005's. Why do they say 2006 onwards only?

I got the Zurich code reader from Harbor Freight. It has always succeed in reading/clearing codes. Hard to beat for $50. It does have a short cord though, but this becomes far less important than the fact that it works.

Thanks for your recommendation.
I'll add the Zurich Reader in the mix as a potential unit to buy. Can you provide a model number?

i have been using the ultra gauge which reads and clears codes while providing about 40 different bits of info, ie; ait, boost, mpg, hp, torque etc,and i understand they have an updated vewrsion. They are under $100.

I was standing in the Harbor Freight Tools with my hands already full of stuff looking at the "Zurich Chart" of how each Zurich code reader continued to ADD FEATURES over the lesser one. I had already bought one new reader online because my old one didn't read Crossfire codes. Well the NEW one I bought online didn't read them either so I stood there thinking, "They wouldn't sell all these scan tools that didn't work because people would just return them," and with that thought in mind I bought the least expensive one.

Which one DIDN'T WORK, you ask? This one that Scotty Kilmer recommended:
