O ring for transmission electrical connector
Hi all. I am in the middle of changing a leaky transmission electrical connector and when taking the plug out I noticed that the O ring on the socket itself is what had torn not the two on the replacement connector. I thought this was no big deal and bought a set of universal O rings. But after replacing it and trying to reinstall it, it appears the new O ring is too thick and it will not seat.
is there a specific O ring that I need to get? I’m at a standstill until I can figure this out

1/8” section nominal O-rings are actually .070”
3/32” are .103, 1/8” are .139, 3/16” are .210, and 1/4” are .275.
What is a universal O-ring?

the first photo is what I bought first to replace. The the red O ring on the second photo is what was torn on mine that I was looking to replace. The third photo is the universal gasket kit that I bought.
luckily I was just able to find that FCP sells the entire part with the gasket for 15 bucks so I just purchased that
The O-ring kit you have is National SAE; It will not work. The O-rings on the electric connector are metric. I believe you need a 75 Viton size 3 x 38 and the smaller diameter is 2.5 x 32.5.
You could try www.usasealing.com to find what you need.

O-rings are made by the millions so it makes no sense to make a part that requires a special O-ring.
beats me man but I tried multiple sizes from that kit and that connector would not fit with them on it but if I tested it with no O ring it went in easy peasy🤷♂️
