Default Rubber driver shaft couplers

I have a 2005 Crossfire Roadster. When I went in today to have things checked after winter, I was told the rubber drive shaft couplers were cracking. However, I was told you have to replace the entire driver shaft ($1,927.00). Do you have to replace the entire drive shaft just for the couplers???

NO !!!! The flex disc are replaced just by themselves. Get away from that shop and find a honest mechanic.

You can do it yourself. It's not hard, you just have to be patient. I also replaced my driveshaft center support bearing. I would advise doing that as well. The whole thing cost less than $300.00 when I did mine.
Here's how I did mine:

You didn't identify which Crossfire model you have. The SRT6 couplers DO NOT fit the Limited, Base or SE models. You'll find the correct parts listed by the Mercedes Benz SLK 320 that correspond to the non SRT6 models.
Easily found on numerous parts suppliers, such as NeedsWing.com....

Thanks, when I bought the car it was advertised as a "Limited", and when I looked up by vin # that is what it gave me, However, the mechanic called it a base roadster (it doesn't specify on the title), and on the leather inside door panel it says "SRT6"?? How do I know for sure?

Photos of the car, the engine and the vin would help.

What part of Missouri? I am originally from St. Louis County. The tornadoes hit about 3 miles from where my sisters lived in U. City.

The mechanic is clueless....

There was NEVER a Red SRT6 Roadster manufactured at the Karmann factory or offered in that color by Chrysler. The RED roadsters were offered in two trim levels, Limited with a leather interior (3 different color combinations), 7 spoke wheels or the SE model with gray cloth, low back bucket seats and 15 spoke SRT6 type wheels.
Anyone can add fake emblems to the car, such as SRT6, but that's a wish, not reality!
Hope this ID's your car....
