Was working on the car's inside and placed the key on the seat. Needed to get in the trunk so clicked remote to unlock the trunk and laid key back down. Got out, closed the door and "CLICK" the darn doors locked automatically! Any ideas on how to get back inside and not calling AAA?
I remember reading that you can remove one of the license plate lights and being able to open the trunk latch. Do a search on this forum for: How to open the trunk when the CLP/SSM fails

THAT WAS JUST TOO DARN EASY!! REMOVED THE LEFT LIGHT WITH A CREDIT CARD. I PUT A BOUT A 6" BEND IN A SMALL DIAMETER ROD, STUCK IT IN THE HOLE AND DIDN'T EVEN HAVE TO HUNT AROUND! I HEARD IT CLICK AND TRUNK WAS ABLE TO BE OPENED. HARDEST PART WAS GETTING MY "PORTLY" BODY IN THE HATCH to get the door open! YEA! YOU ARE THE MAN. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Were the keys in the car or the trunk ??
If they were in the car how did you get them by opening the trunk ??

As already mentioned they were in the seat. Once the hatch opened I got inside and used coat hanger to pull the door handle. When I changed the FOB case last week, it came with a blank key. I'll check around and find someone to cut a spare key so that if that happens again I can get in the car.
applying this to a Roadster ... if you access the trunk you could use a 6mm allen to unlock the rear bow, manually lift the rear bow and access the car ... I have not tried this but I think it would be possible
Yes it is a standard feature
If you unlock the door and don't open the door it will re-lock in about 30 seconds to a minute
That's what happens with both doors open! That's how I got locked out the other day when I left the FOB on the passenger seat and closed the door! Is there a way to bypass this feature? I had to remove driver's side license plate and trip the hatch lock.
YEA! I FOUND OUT HOW TO DISABLE THE AUTO-LOCK SYSTEM!
Found an old post by Hunt416 from May of 2005. Here's how to disable the auto-lock feature!

"The manual is wrong. The method for enabling or disabling the auto-lock is as follows:
Get in the car with the doors closed. Put key in Ignition. Press and hold the door lock button on the console (up to disable autolock, down to enable auto-lock). While holding the door lock button, turn the ignition to on. Do not start the car. Hold for about 5 to 10 seconds."
I discovered this by trial and error, and it was way back in September when I got the car, so I may be a little off on the exact routine. Good Luck.

Isn't this the auto lock doors when the car is moving a certain mph? It locks the doors and automatically unlocks after an accident? I read that in the owners manual (I believe). The manual is in the car in the garage right now. Someone else chime in?
