Default Question/opinion about the BAS sensor

Greetings,
After I took ownership of my crossfire I noted that occasionally I had a light coming on the dash that did not seem to impact the braking or driving of my car. After I got to Charlotte, I took it to a Euro car shop and asked a mechanic to take a look-see and they said best they could tell the brake sensor went out so they did happen to find one and replace (actually I believe it was 2 sensors). They told me to come back if it keeps showing up... however at $1,000 a visit, that's not really all that likely. But they did give the brakes a thorough check (which I wanted for peace of mind) and all thumbs up. They said there were no codes being thrown.

So I've tried resetting the sensor by turning the steering wheel and turning the car back on as indicated in some of the threads on this topic. However, it still lights up after roughly 5 minutes and stays on. I've put air in the tires. They are also brand new as they needed to be replaced before the drive to Charlotte.

Question/opinons ... mayhap possibly could I just ignore this light ???? She seems to drive just fine, brakes aren't squishy or weird feeling.

Also, not for nothing I had to replace the battery after getting her to Charlotte and suddenly all sorts of things started working that weren't working before, examples: the retractable roof, the spoiler, and the radio. All things that I could "live without" for the purchase since it was an ASIS sale and now, happily, I don't live without. Huzzah. I did have autozone do a check to see if they got codes and they said no codes are being thrown. Also they said their new battery, the alternator and some other components they could check with gadgets were all in tip top shape.
2008 Crossfire Roadster - 14,000 miles - I've never seen such a clean engine.

Hi,
You may have to do the reset procedure a few times. You might want to invest in a good scanner, I use a Launch CRP 123 it's not that expensive, but it works well. If you have a place like Auto-Zone scan it, they may have to scan it as a 2003 Mercedes-Benz SLK 320 (R 170 Chassis). That is the car that our Crossfires are built on.
The electronics on these cars are very finicky. When a battery is low all kinds of things can happen. The spoiler going up is a dead give away that the battery is low. Also, you should take it on a long drive about 30 miles or more. Since the battery was replaced, sometimes the cars need to re-learn their programming.
Keep us updated, and good luck!

Ok!
I'll be honest I was surprised that the roof did not work. When my brother test drove it for me, he mentioned it wasn't working but I just assumed from his lack of crossfire knowledge that he didn't understand how to operate it. Heh!
~ I'll try to reset it again tomorrow. Always a good idea. I've got a trip planned in the am actually, about that long (25 miles) one way.
Thank you very much! I'll let you know how it goes.

results of today’s adventure. I tried resetting the BAS light. No dice. It came on after about 2 min running time and did not go back off.
drove for about 75 miles all total today, approx 26 miles in one shot and subsequently various errands in increments from 45 minutes to 20 minutes in the car at a time. Tried the reset again. It came back on while just sitting in my driveway just now.

I will check tire pressure again tomorrow before adventuring forth just to be sure they are all still good. Tomorrow the engine will be running for about 30 or so min to my destination (and back again) can’t say how many miles it is.. 20 maybe. Its 90% highway.

open to other suggestions but at this point I am assuming its a bogus tire sensor… but I will purchase that gadget you mentioned - Launch CRP 123

Brake pedal switch fixed mine twice now in18 years. The contact points were burnt when I tore into them.

I purchased a ICARSOFT MB V2.0 Car Diagnostic Tool For Mercedes-Benz/Sprinter/Smart (MB-V2.0)
to scan my SRT6. I use a Mercedes VIN number, and it scans the car. They are not expensive, and I just leave mine in the car just in case I have a problem on the road.

I've got a tool being delivered today, but if it does not work for me I will keep this in mind as well! Thank you!
