Exclamation Problems Problems Problems!

I don't know if anyone is having the same problem out there but here it goes. I've been taking my car to the dealership for service since i bought the car, each time i'd tell them about certain problems and they'd say "oh i heard nothing or there's nothing wrong with the car because the computer isn't saying there is anything wrong" blah blah blah! Anyways, my problems are as follows: 1) Rattling in the front engine passenger side when i'm reversing and it is heard more so when i'm on a hill. 2) Sometimes when i floor the car it takes a verrry long time to pick up, it actually slows down the power of the car isn't the same as when i bought it. 3) The fuel indicator light comes on and flashes on and off, this isn't supposed to happen but it does! This occurs frequently and does not come off until i shut the car off and then restart, but it does come on again on another day or a couple hrs after. 4) My check engine lights comes on often as well, it most often occurs when the fuel indicator light starts flashing or sometimes just on its own. 5) My car would start stalling when i slowed down and then drove off, like at a stop sign...i'd slow down and drive off...the car would not shut off...but there'd be no power...the engine would start shaking...there will be no power for like 5 secs...then the car would pick up and drive off!...ahhh...they did attempt to fix this problem by changing the O2 sensor, this did help...but my engine still struggles for power when i slow down and try to drive off. 6) What's up with the sound coming from the stereo's even when it's turned off? It's like this annoying sound...like when you don't have signal and you get disturbance..it's very low but i do hear it...One more thing, when i tune into certain radio stations the radio will automatically keep switching the radio stations back and forth...i told them about this too and they were like uhh ok?
I've been complaining about these problems since i took note of them, of course with my luck...the service department did not write all my complaints down in their computer system and then the person that i was dealing with at the desk and the mechanic both quit!!! So NOW THESE GOD DARN PEOPLE HAVE NOT A CLUE WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT AND EVERYTHING IS "I DON'T HEAR ANYTHING, DON'T KNOW"...ah yes i'm pissed off. For anyone in NY, this dealership is in Long island, NY. It's Smithaven Jeep/Dodge/Chrysler.

Why don't you take it to Huntington Jeep Eagle and ask for Steve or Mike. Tell them you were recommended by Marc M. with the Crossfire Roadster. I've bought 9 cars from them and its all because the service dept is so good. Now that there seem to be more and more New York and Long Island owners showing up on the site maybe we can get a few of you to show up this spring/summer at the beach early on Sunday mornings. What do you think NXMX5, wouldn't it be nice to see half dozen XF's there besides just yours and mine?

on topic, babe -- sounds like a serious engine management problem ... bad computer? i'm not too sure what to think about the audio system problems yet, but if you get one thing fixed it may trickle down and fix the other problems -- good luck in Huntington --

Heard the OBI location is being shifted to a bg lot at Captree. They started working at the OBI location. Haven't been there yet myself but I heard the new location is bigger than the OBI and they started going down there a week or 2 ago.

Babe, Just called Mike at Huntington Jeep and he is expecting you to call or stop by. Didn't know your name but I told him a young lady who bought her car at Smithaven and will be coming in mentioning my name. He'll take care of you. Hope to see you and all the other xfire owners from NY this spring/summer at the beach. Every Sunday at either the old OBI locale or Captree. Starting at 7 AM. Several hundred of Ny's biggest car and bike nuts of every type. Rods, exotics and everything else drivable. Get there late and there's no place to park. Ask NXMX5, he's usually on the perimeter of the lot.

You think right NXMX5, I’ll be down there. I've been looking forward to early morning drives with the top down all winter. Can't wait to meet everyone.

FRMNRXMX5 ...WOW OBI i haven't heard that in a long long time... they had an east and a west at one point... so what's up with OBI now?

XFbabe... since smithhaven MALL is pretty close to pt jeff... straight up 347...yeah... the list goes on... but the guys at PT JEFF jeep chrysler are good as well. the whole management team is related from sales to service... family owned/run... CLASS ACT BEYOND REPROACH.

and for this i like them because they have alot of pride and care for their business... and every customer.

they haven't worked on my xf yet but when i left my PT cruiser there... actually it was towed, i left blockbuster videos in car that had to be returned. i called them up to tell them i was coming back for them... they said i didn't have to that they would bring it back to blockbuster for me!!! and they repaired something on my PT that 5 dealers could not!!!

good luck with your car... and did this happen all at once or???

its actually just a parking lot right now; the OBI is long gone. but on sunday mornings people show up with their cars (old, new, stock, modified, bikes, etc) and hang out -- it runs in captree until they start charging admission (fishing season) and then it moves to the OBI parking lot. but buggy says they've moved again; i'll ask my dad. he's been going down there all winter; i haven't been there yet this season.

xfire1: The problems just occurred one after the other. Started sometime within the first year of having the car. Unfortunately! Thank You for the Port Jeff info.

Regarding your problem 6...specifically the radio switching stations - I had the same problem with one station. The station that I had set on the 1 button (FM) would change from what I had set to some other station just after I pushed the 1 button. It only happened on the one channel. I messed around with the radio for a few days...resetting the stations and pushing buttons and lo and behold, the radio starting right again. So, I'm guessing that there is something built into the radio to get it to do the switch, but you have to figure how to get the feature turned off. Does your radio do it every time? If so the dealership techs sure ought to be see the "problem".

I have found that the car has a few interesting features that seemingly very few people know about.

Good luck with the engine problems. I'm sure the problem lies in the engine management electronics package.

Woodlands:
Concerning the radio station switching. It always occurs with the #7 which is pre-set on a specific radio station. Despite the many times i've changed the radio station and re-set it, it switches back and forth between the station that i have on pre-set and some other station that i don't have on pre-set. This occurs frequently when i'm driving. Thanks for the advice. Ha, i definitely need some luck with the engine part.

Guys, this may be more of a "feature" than a problem. By default, the radio is in an automatic seek mode where it will lock on to the strongest station in the vicinity of any given frequency. So if the station you're listening to gets bleed-over from (what it thinks is) a stronger one it will lock on to that station for you. Try pushing the "MAN" button to set the radio to manual tuning mode and see if the problem goes away.

I have seen this problem several times when listening to my XM receiver when I travel outside of my local area .

From indiangunslinger; It sounds like to me you may have purchased some bad gas. #1 make sure you always use 91 octane. Do not use ARCO gas. Do you have a K&N filter so your car can breath properly. This is not standard equipment but it can be purchased at Kragens or Pep boys or on line. There is a charge kit that goes with it. About $50.00 dollars for everything. Good Luck.
