Default gas door

Any one have issues with the gas door? Yesterday mine was stuck open and hard to close. Any easy fix for this or do I have to go back to the stealership? Thanks for the help.

I have not had a problem with mine, but if it is still doing it and you haven't been able to locate the cause...sounds like a trip to the place where they know less than us, but have access to the parts.

There have been other posts on this and the fix was as simple as the plastic line holding the cap was twisted and getting between the door and housing keeping the door from closing, I checked mine and found marks where I had shut the door on it. Take a look it could be an easy fix. Look in the post by jayf 05-01-2006 ...

Thanks for the help. It seems to have fixed itself, strange. But I'll check out the tips for the future.

Mine did this - if you are filling the gas and lock the car - a pin locks the door shut - I know the gas door is open while you are filling, but it will not allow you to close it because the pin goes across and locks the gas door shut - does this make sense? Is this what you are experiencing?

More than likely this is what happened. When you lock the car, or it locks for being unattended it also locks you gas door. If the gas door happens to be open the locking mechanism still locks it.

Simple as hitting the unlock button on the key. I had the same problem and I notice their is a locking pin-kind-of cool to watch. I was worried about someone adding something to the tank didn't know it already had locking mechanism.

You did what FP and other have suggested, its easy to do since the locks seem to have a mind of their own. Just be aware they are pneumatic locks. I wonder what happens if that line breaks? I had my trunk lid lock line go and the lid wouldn't lock.
Hope you have no more problems with your gas lid now that you know what is going on.
