Default oil change cost

Is it normal to pay $200.00 for an oil change? ...and that's without taxes.

I only pay about $6.00 to change my oil. Mostly because I'm only changing the bi-pass filter every 4,000 miles. Check out my thread on my motorguard bi-pass filter system.
It's worth it when spending money on synthetic oil.

Cool Re: oil change cost

That's outrageous, oil change at the dealer should be no more than $85.00 - $125.00 tops.

I think the original poster lives in Canada, so the $200 figure may be Canadian dollars, which is about $178 US. That's still a ridiculously high number, though.

My local dealer charged me $65 for my oil change. $200 is out of the question.

Thanks everyone for guidance and my apologies - those are Canadian dollars. However, these days the exchange rate is pretty good.

I am watching my pennies these days - recent marital break-up means paying a mortgage on my own but I am NOT selling my Crossfire!!

Changing your own oil on your XF, PRICELESS.

Default Free!

My dealership has a program where if you get 3 oil changes the forth is free. So in goes the Caravan, 300C and when I get to the forth oil change (since the Crossfire is 7,000 miles) Crossfire goes in. No charge. The other 3 oil changes are $25.00 so for $75 dollars I get 4 oil changes including my Crossfire!

I have been paying $125. Considering 7 quarts of oil, lube and checking other fluids, it is outrageous. Well i just changed oil, filter and air filter on 2001 maxima and it cost me apprx $35.

How often have you been changing your oil? I don't go for the 7,500 miles due to synthetic. I have been changing at 4,500 miles.

It is outrageous, particularly if they gave you only 7 quarts instead of the required 8.5 quarts...

Lightbulb Re: oil change cost

roncosrt6, If you're changing the oil on your other car every 3K miles than it's the equivalent of $70.00. Not that this helps, it just adds a little perspective. I didn't know that the oil changes on the XF were that expensive, until now.
I appreciate the free oil changes more now.

Wow Upstate, nice deal!
Let's see,...how far is Rochester N.Y. from Akron Ohio?
