I know when you shut a car down the temp. goes up, but I'm wondering if mine is normal. After several minutes of being off the temp. guage runs up to one notch under the H marker. Back on the road it takes several minutes to go back down to normal. This seems a little extreme.

While I have your attention, My air conditioner shuts down almost immediately on any hot day. Works great at night! Faulty breaker switch? any connection with my other issue. THANKS, MM

 

Your temperature gauge spike might be caused by having an air pocket in the cooling system. I don't have any input on the AC issue.

 

Thanks display-name, I didn't notice any high point orifices to fill the radiator like you usually find in systems, only the overflow tank. I think it's time to study the service manual. I don't have a hard copy, so it's kind of a pain in the ***. If you found a fill point I'd appreciate a post. Thanks MM

 

Well, after looking at the service manual it appears that the coolant tank is the high point. So that begs the question, if I have air bubbles how do Bleed the system? I don't really think that's the problem but I didn't see any technique for removing them in the serv. manual or maybe it's late at night and I just didn't read enough information. It's almost 2:00 A.M. though the post time stamp will have it much earlier for some reason. Good Night!

 

Mr. display name, You were the only person that responded to my thread, so I want to let you know that I'm pretty sure I found the problem. When they replaced the headlight pods they didn't plug in the fan module far enough to click the connection. This of course lit up the cooling system light so I knew that I had some problem, but couldn't find it, until today! The dealer isn't close to me so sometimes I have to pick up my car after the service department closes and the sales guy hadn't a clue as to why the light was on. I hope this does the trick. I'm going for a test drive now. Wouldn't it be nice if this solved my A/C problem. I don't think I'm that lucky. Thanks for the response! MM

 

To continue my conversation with myself: I think that did the trick, but it's only 80 degrees today so I can't be 100% sure but I'm 90% sure. It might have fixed the A/C too, but that's a 50/50 estimate. I need a scorcher to be sure about that!

 

I think you got it fixed. If the fans don't start when the air conditioning system requires, the compressor will turn off. I don't know how it works but I think it has to do with the high pressure side of the system. Glad it was an easy fix.
