Mechanic said ive got "some kind of electrical issue". Sent my RCM to tighe, but him resoldering didnt fix the issue and i trust his work. So i am ordering one. It was suggested that i try an RCM from a working crossfire and see of my car starts...i have access to one, same year and everything, just the bad *** package...anyway my question is, if its not the RCM and i put a working RCM in my car, will whatever issue i have RUIN or blow up their RCM (lets assume my issue ISNT the RCM, but im sure it is cuz he tried it in his crossfire and it didnt work after he resoldered)? Think there is any miniscule chance of ruining theirs at all?

NO. Nothing in an RCM to blow up, just fuses, relays a couple of resistors and one diode.

It was his suggestion. I will ask someone to look into your suggestion, (beyond my kniwledge) Ed. It was at a mechanic for a week, I would think he tried that but i dunno

Brand new battery btw and terms good. No turnover, but lights radio and the (super jet engine loud) fan works... mechanic didnt tell me much before he gave up other than he couldn't even get it to start even with jumping the starter, or something like that. Couldnt run diag cuz he couldnt get the computer on to get the codes. He was once great but retired after a stroke and picks and chooses what he wants to do and he said finding my electrical malfunction wasnt one if them. Thats all i know. It ran, then sat for 6 months, then started, died after a minute while idling, did that maybe once more, and never again after

If not already done, try replacing the CPS. Make sure to buy ONLY the
Bosch 0261210170 https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/mer...sor-0031532828

I believe that the problem is in your RCM.
When I tried to start my car with your RCM (after repair) my car would not start.
Started fine with my RCM.
Sure would have liked to have kept your RCM so I could have figured out why it wouldn't work.

Keep us updated.

Yup. Sent it back "repaired" but still not working.
I try for a fast turn around and asked if she wanted it back and she said yes. Would have required additional time to troubleshoot and I didn't have the time. Otherwise I would have kept it and tinkered with it. So I sent it back as requested.
Still wondering what was wrong with it. Never saw one act that that.

convertible top :
1. do the windows go down when you open the front of the top ? ( ignition on, windows up, turn D handle and push up on top )
2. have you checked the cargo switch ? ( drivers side trunk where the rod fits in the socket )
3. have you checked the top unlatched switch ( right above passengers ear )
4. have you checked the trunk latched switch? ( part of the latch assembly )

doors won't lock unlock :
1. only with fob, or both with fob and panel switch ?

NOTE !!! Fuse 9 in the underhood fuse block blown will cause BOTH of the above conditions.

auto open gas cap - you got me on that one. new feature you added ?

radio won't go off: no clue

doors won't lock unlock :
1. only with fob, or both with fob and panel switch ? PANEL WON'T UNLOCK. WILL CHECK WITH BOTH FOBS

auto open gas cap - you got me on that one. new feature you added ? SORRY, what I meant is the doorshave to be able to unlock for me to get it open. ONCE the lock issue is fixed, so will the gas door

radio won't go off: no clue
Will post findings tomorrow

I assume that you are aware that the cargo divider in the trunk must be in the position where you have little trunk space left before you can put the top down ?
This divider has a rod at the top that snaps into sockets on the left and right side.
On the drivers side of this socket there is a switch that tells the top control module that the divider is in the correct position.

3. have you checked the top unlatched switch ( right above passengers ear ) WHAT??!! NOW I WANT TO
This switch is kinda hard to see. There is a plastic slider that actuates the switch when you have released the top from the windshield frame.

4. have you checked the trunk latched switch? ( part of the latch assembly ) OMG MORE GOOGLING
This one is a bit of a PITA : it is INSIDE the trunk latch assembly. You would have to remove the plastic cover in the trunk lid, then using torx and 10mm wrenches, remove the latch assembly to inspect / meter this switch.
